Tailgate Panel Removal

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the tailgate panel off. Any help? The keyswitch for the window has fallen inside and I need to fix it.

alot of pulling, get a screw driver in one side , then your fingers and start pulling

Holy cow that interior hatch panel is tough to get off. I used a spatula to get in the small space between metal and plastic, with paper over it to prevent scratching as I pried but I think I'll break the spatula before the thing budges. I did take off the one bolt where the grab strap is. Any suggestions????

If your talking about the brown interior piece of the tailgate, pretty much I just unscrewed the grab strap bolt, took a flathead screwdriver to pop one side off and yanked the rest off. It feels like you are going to break the panel but you won't.

The problem was I was prying at the top which is held on by the window felt trim. You have to start at a bottom corner and work that off then the top kind of slides off.

Well there's no way I'm going to get that dent in the panel by the windshield wiper out, there is a piece of sheet metal riveted inside all over that area so no way to get at it. I was going to get the paintless dent repair guy to fix that but I'll just get him to do the rest of the dings on the body and wait until another undented hatch comes up in the same colour.
