Taillight guards evade me

Not sure if these belongs in 3rd gen or classified sections, but I have a tough time trying to find taillight guards for my '01. I found a pair on ebay for $600+, which probably means their out of stock or batpoo crazy. If any of yall could point me in the right direction, or know of someone who has some thatd be willing to sell them, I would appreciate it.

What good are light guards?

I don't understand what good light guards are. When I go off roading I scrape by lots of branches and with the streamlined shape of the lights the branches just slide by. I would imagine that branches would catch in the guard and possibly do damage. Same with a grill guard unless you are bumping up against rocks.
