Talk me out of an F-250 Highboy(if u can)

So my neighbor is planning on parting with his beloved '70 F-250 Highboy, a truck I've lusted after for 20 years now. Knowing this, he has given me first crack at it and would give me a great price. It has a 390, auto, NP205, D44HD, and D60w PowerLock and 4.11 gears. I've always loved these old bumpsides. The paints a bit worn but the interior is in exceptional condition. Absolutely zero rust. The truck has approximately 87K miles. I really want it but I'd probably have to sell one of my other trucks(my wife would kill me if I bring home another truck). So what do u think gentlemen? Oh yeah the price is ~$7500.

I really like old Fords so I say go for it. '67-72 Fords that are 4wd and in good shape are hard to find.

I'm not a big ford guy but growing up my dad had a 69 f100 with the 390 4speed and my mom had a 72 f100 sport custom 302 c4 auto. so i have a soft spot for the 67-72 ford f series. I say buy it!

Anybody want an '85 Hi-Lux SR-5 LB EFI 4x4 super clean, rust free, and excellent interior... $10,000 !!! :eyebrows:

ive got a 75. it needs some work, but has a new engine and is a runner. that said, $7500? no thanks. I wouldn't even consider it for that price. low miles or not. unless the engine, transmission and drivetrain have been rebuilt/resealed its not worth that much.

I had a 75 f250, beautiful truck, bought from the original owner. 390, C6, 3.73 rear end. I put a new holly on and put in a comp 268H cam. What a blast but holy cow it drank gas. Ran out a few times actually, just couldn't get my mind accustomed to 8mpg lol.

I like old cars/trucks, but i would never buy one...my life (at this time) is more valuable alive than dead...maybe once the ratio turns the other direction, then my wife will get me an old truck....

Nice F-250 Whitson! I'm not looking forward to the crappy mileage, but I am looking forward to not having to smog check it every other year. I have other cars n trucks to drive that get great mileage. This would be more of a restoration project.

Well...you will be surprise...many Americans feel that older steel-laden cars are stronger than today's "plastic cars." IIHS did it to dispel any notion of that thought.

Actually, for me, IIHS was good to do that test.
