TE Under Slide-out Storage.

Getting ready to leave for Colorado, and I found myself lacking enough room for all 4 of us, our personal gear, and tools.... So I was removing the flip down wall on my slide out, and I realized there was room under it to store some of the stuff. So between the storage compartments, and the new found room under the slide out, I was able to do away with one entire ARB large recovery bag.

For the record it was able to fit the following under there

First aid kit
Snatch block Lrg
Snatch block sml
Shackle
Air hoes extension
Air inflation hose/gauge
Sherpa solar charging system
SOG tomahawk
SOG field knife
30' bungee cord
Waterproof field dressing x 8
Emergency blanket

And in the skinny storage between the slide out and the seat:

Gorilla tape
Wet weather gear
Solar shower
TeraLUX flashlight
Insect/snake bite kit
Matches
Gerber multi tool
Factor 55 hitch recovery mount
Rubber coated twist ties multiple sizes
Another 30' bungee cord
SOG survival knife
Waterproof matches
6 assorted chem lights

And in my single side compartment:
Winch controller
Factory jack
First aid kit
SOG multi tool


Anyway, like in said, between all this stuff and the stuff I crammed into my other Large ARB bag, I save a good chunk of room.

I'm one of those people who try to bring everything I may need, and then some.

That's the first thing I noticed when I slid that thing out, I wondered why didn't they craft a nice little storage spot there, a better one anyway. That trim seems like a good 2+ inches above the actual floor enough to equate to real capacity. Slim tool box, straps, tire irons, shackles and blocks, hoses/belts, all that good stuff.

You have 1 7/8 inch to fit stuff I there and not affect the operation of the slide. Since my spare tire is in the back, I wonder if I should work out some sort of drop in storage boxes the go through the floor..... Pretty sure I'm going to try this one.

I will post a write up when I cut my flow (if I do). I think I can drop in two trays that go roughly 9" into the floor with lids.

I am definitely not that adventurous at this point in time but do keep us in the loop if you do decide to cut in some rear floor storage!

Did you remove anything under the sliding tray to make room for all these things or is this the standard amount of space that is under those sliding trays? I'm curious to install one or make one of my own.

about 2 inches deep.

not much but enough to keep a few little things.

Its exactly 2.6 inches deep at its deepest under the tray, but as you can see that deep enough for many things. The storage box behind the tray is about 5 inches deep.
