Teenage Driver

I would like to pull the fuse for the radio in my teenagers 1997 4runner

Does anyone know which one it is?

And what does it control - I think it controls the radio and clock.


Just trying to keep the kids alive and not distracted.

I'd put money on the kid popping in another fuse any time he or she has the vehicle for very long. It's a nice idea anyway, but they'll most likely just resent you for it. Your biggest worries are cell phones and gabbing with friends while driving--those are much worse than a factory radio. Best of luck--kids at that age can be a handful!

Do you allow them cell phones? Because I would guess the distraction level between cell phones and car radios is vast. I would also guess, that car radios are usually not a source of distractions for most normal folk. Maybe your kids aren't mentally ready to be driving? You have a moral responsibility to your neighbors to not knowingly allow a potential accident on the road.

An age number alone is not proof enough of maturity to drive, or anything else for that matter.

I'd be too pissed if my folks did that. I remember turning 16 and I had my truck, boobs, and music on my mind. That was it.

Im not a 3rd gen guy..but it might also control things like the dome light, HVAC stuff and cig lighter, I mean power outlet....

Haha yeah. I remember when my main amp fuse blew on a road trip. I took a piece of metal I had in my toolbox and cut it to fit with a set of pliars. I ended up running that piece of metal in the fuse block for about a year! Never underestimate the ingenuity of a 16 year old kid!
