I went with stock size BFG KO2 "C" rated. Mainly because its not as stiff as "E". I would guess probably a little lighter too. So far I like them. I cant tell much difference than factory tires. The ride is still good. I don't want to do a lift just yet so I stayed stock size. We mostly use 4r for around town etc. however we do a lot of camping. trail rides- forest roads etc. No rock crawling or extreme stuff. Overall I would pick the tire again.

I just replaced an old set of BFG A/T 32x11.5r15 with Yokohama Geolander A/T G015s. 31x10.5r15.

I do highway and around town driving with my 4runner. No offroad, probably no snow. May do some beach driving and very likely rain highway driving.

The Yokos are magically smooth and quiet on the highway and handle very well. I am very pleased with them. They had many good reviews. I have not tried them in the rain yet but judging by the wide channels, I think they will do well.


I loved the look of the BFGs and they were good in the rain at highway speeds also. Mainly replaced them because they were on the truck when I got it, older than 10 years and one was egg-shaped, contributing to violent shaking above 60mph. Around here you need to keep up with traffic, 70-80 mph at all times on the highway. Eventually that egg-shaped one was going to come apart.

Generally speaking (and this is based on a daily driver aspect) I find that softer tires filled at 26-28psi is the best bet for these things as far as traction and ride comfort.

For example, if you have a really heavy duty sidewall mud tire and you fill it to 44psi you are not going to have a good time driving a 1st gen daily. They are really light weight, and whether you drive a staight axle or a Hi-Trac IFS version, they are both pretty stiff.

I would run a mild all-terrain tire, or an all season and I would follow the recommended PSI fill rating (which is assigned based on weight of the vehicle). I believe it is 26psi. A stiffer tire should actually get LESS psi, not more. So many buy a supy ply side wall mud terrain tire, and fill it to the max psi rating based on the sidewall of the tire (which indicates the max the tire can handle for the heaviest vehicle it can be mounted to) and go bouncing down the road with their teeth jarring out and say "its a truck".

So: a soft tire with PSI in the mid to high 20's. Great on and off road.

I have the tires which came with the truck, 255/70r15, Goodyear Wrangler, I can't tell more because I can't drive my 4R yet.

I like the BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2 33x10.50.

Today is the first day it has rained significantly and I purposely drove the truck to the office to try out the tires in the wet. Highway and stop and go, and I drove exactly the same as if it was dry and have nothing negative to report. The Yokohama Geolanders feel really good in the wet, as the reviews said. I highly recommend these tires.

I'm a BFG man. I run the AT's on everything I own except my crawler.
I live in Denver, so i drive in rain, snow, rocks, dirt, sand, just about every terrain. Moab 2 to 3 times a year, etc, etc... Love the BFG AT's! I run E rated tires.

On my 2nd gen I am running BFG All terrain 33 x 10.5 x 15 without any lift. No rubbing issues. Probably the largest tire u can fit on here without a lift. They seem fine on the road, and are adequate on any light trail I have been on so far. Untested on snow/ice.
