TEQ Grille Badges?

It's been a while since I posted on this thread but I'm back to fulfill a promise I made a few years ago. I originally said I would be making a rear TEQ badge for the 3rd Gen 4Runner that matches the front TEQ badge we already make for the 3 grille options on the 3rd Gen. Well.... I FINALLY had a chance to sit down and start that project this week. I ordered the OEM rear hatch badge from Toyota to work from. The one that arrived is almost exactly 3" wide and 2" tall. I also looked at some old emails when I tried to work on this project a while back and the 3" x 2" size didn't match the dimension another forum member gave me. The one I have says it's for the 96-98. Can someone measure their rear hatch badge on a 96-98 and verify the 3" x 2" size is correct? Also, can someone with a later year 99-00 and 01-02 verify is that size is the same or different? For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about then here is a link to the TEQ grille badge for the 3rd gen. The rear will be the same design but replace the rear OEM Toyota badge.

Nobody willing to measure their rear hatch badge?

I'm happy to go measure mine today after work, I have a 2000. I have one of your front badges, what great quality. Thanks for doing this, awesome products! I'll report back in a bit.

I could mail you a spare badge is that would be more helpful?

* it actually has "studs" of sorts on the top and bottom that allow the badge to self center through the back of the hatch.

I greatly appreciate the offer but I have a brand new OEM rear badge here. I just need to make sure that all years (96-02) used the same rear badge. The front badge changed a few times over the years and I want to make sure the rear badge didn't do the same.

the pictures came from my 1998....

Awesome. That is excatly what I need to hear. My machinist is cutting the prototype today. Now I need a volunteer to let me test fit the prototype on their rig. My machine shop is in SoCal just outside of Santa Clarita. Anyone in the Santa Clarita area open to a 2 minute stop by for test fitting. If not, I can always ship it to someone further out if needed. If we go that route, ideally then need some at least basic skills with a camera in taking quality pics we can use on the website.

well I'm not in Santa Clarita, but in San Jose, CA... I would like to raise my hand for being the guinea pig both to test fit and take quality pictures for your site. might need to pair this with buying a front emblem as well.

I would love to see a stealth option (i.e. black instead of red ink inside)

Our badges come in either red or black. We also can offer a black on black. It's basically a satin black background with a flat black logo. Has been super popular with the 5th Gen 4Runner guys. Once I get the prototype back from the machinist and then over and back from paint; I will reach out to you.

sounds good - looking forward to seeing the final result!

Finally got the final prototype of the rear TEQ badge back from my machinist. We had to go through a few versions until we got the backside curvature cut correct and at an affordable way of doing it. The cut time was taking WAY too long making this little badge too expensive. We had to develop a small jig that allowed a much quicker cut of the backside. We got that perfected and now need to test fit this badge. Before I send it to infamousRNR in San Jose, is there anybody closer in the Santa Clarita area of Socal? Our machine shop is just north of the 14 FWY and 5 FWY interchange. If you can meet us at the shop or let us come to you locally, we will toss in the final badge design for free.

I live in Loma Linda near the 10/215 interchange, you could meet me here.
Or you could meet me at my dad's house in Yucaipa, it's right down the hill from Forest Falls. He has a 99 4runner and I have a 96 4runner, what year of 4runner do you need to test fit to?

I’m semi-local in La Habra. My 2002 currently doesn’t have a rear badge. And I’d love to get a matching front one too.

PM me if you’d like me to come by.

More importantly he’s looking for someone local to ensure the final product is what all enthusiasts can benefit from. You can’t have good visibility if your product is blah.
