Terminal clamp problems w/odyssey battery

Hello, I'm not sure why I'm failing miserably at something very simple.

November 2018, replaced a dead pepboys battery w/Odyssey 34R-PC1500.

Seems easy....right?

Factory negative terminal camp wont stick. Taper on the battery terminal seems steep. Bought a new clamp from amazon. Still wouldn't stick. Tried shims, no go.
Took it to a shop...They removed the felt corrosion spacer (to clamp at the greater girth of the post) and added a few washers on the clamp bolts to further add to the closing range of the clamp.

This worked for 1.5 years until now.

Now this terminal clamp just pops off again.
1) Replacing that amazon terminal clamp. Its too malleable and requires 4 different wrenches to adjust. This clamp is a POS

I'm still skeptical a new clamp will work because the taper on the terminal seems too steep. Why even taper the terminals??...I do not recall seeing this on any of the previous automotive batteries I have come across (3-4 in the past 1o years) I may have never noticed it either...

Factory positive terminal clamp has no issues because it is exerting pressure from both top and bottom of the clamp allowing it to accommodate a taper while the other clamp is exerting pressure uniformly. I am unable to find a negative clamp with a similar layout.

post. Should be a gap where the bolt goes through the terminal.

The clamp is labeled with an (-). It was the smaller of the 2 in the set when I purchased it.

I am concerned with the taper, because both the factory toyota and this clamp are having issues with this battery post.

If you like the Toyota OEM positive clamp, why not use the same style for the negative? Toyota makes it in negative (smaller) version too, just not used on the 4runner.

Do a search for "toyota negative battery terminal" and look at the images. I have one on my 4runner, it was used on older camrys or something. I found the part number and my dealer ordered it for me.

I like the stock steel terminal clamps. The less lead in my world, the better.
BTW, you can throw away the felt anti-corrosion thingies when using AGM batteries.

When I upgraded my negative cables to 2 awg for the engine and 4 awg for the body ground I could not get them to sit nicely on the terminal. I made this extender plate to convert it to more of a side post. It was supposed to be "temporary" but it has been 2 years or more so I think I'll leave it.

Update.

I ordered the terminal clamps for $20 shipped. Decided to replace both
9098205035 and 9098206022

and positive clamp cover
82821-35020

Was supposed to get at it this weekend, but the package with the clamps arrived damaged and empty, now back to start. I can't find any official toyota clamps at that price, so going to bite the bullet and visit the dealer tomorrow.

The positive one (without cover) is available at Nissan for 1/3 the price of the OEM toyota one from the dealer. Nissan Part Number 24340-7F000. It is identical in every respect other than packaging. Give them a check if Nissan is nearby.

I couldn't find a negative equivalent at Nissan but maybe it exists if you can dig up a part number, or if Nissan has a good parts counter guy.

Yes. Just a scrap of heat shrink I had laying around. Not really needed on the negative but it looks better. I was initially going to make the strap of copper but couldn't find any at hand. The aluminum was there so I used it 'temporarily'. It has been fine so I think it is now permanent.

battery terminals are a DIN standard so yea they should be kind of interchangeable.
