Testing a used 3rd Member

I've got a used 3rd member out of a parts truck that had a leaking rear diff cover.

All of the gear oil was clean but now I'm wondering if theres a way to check for issues without just dropping it and trying it over the road.

The pinion and ring do not show any wear, but it takes me a bit of time to pull it and replace and I would like to avoid just replacing a problem with a new problem.

Any advice appreciated,
