So, this forum has a few new toys. I have tested a few of them using different threads and then deleting my posts. You can use this thread to test the new things out. You can now tag users which is really cool! There are a few other new features as well that I will play with later. If you have instructions on how to use these new features or cool tips on using them in different ways, post it here.

How do we tag people? Where can we get this info?

Can we get a list of all the new features?

So far, I see:

  • [OP] feature has been added after username in posts
  • we can now tag and mention people using an '@' sign before their username - ex: [MENTION=81047]farmerjon[/MENTION]
  • 1000 message limit instead of 100!!
  • Mentioned and tag stats added to user info

Also, another awesome feature is that if you are quoted, you get a notification that you have been quoted. I think this is a really cool add-on because I don't always remember that I posted something and someone can quote me expecting a response that I forgot all about.
 
Use the "Tag" dropdown right above the original post (to the left) and type in the username only - no "@" sign. Farmerjon I mentioned and tagged you. I have no idea what to do with them though after you have been tagged. I guess you are now "it" lol.
 
I am also noticing under the username it says "montioned posts" and "tagged threads". I haven't figured how to mention a post or tag a thread yet.
 
It turns out that we can do a lot with tags. On the very bottom of a thread there is an area for tags. Think of them as an identification or a search term for a thread. You can add up to 25 tags to a thread. With those tags you can search for those tags that identify a thread and it will take you to a list of threads that have been tagged with those tags.

If you put an "@" sign in front of a username, ex: @SV Dude then you put a mention in their box. You then get notified of it just like "likes"

Your post right above, where you quoted me, caused me to get an alert, just like "likes, only it says "quoted." I click on it and it takes me to a page that shows who has quoted me. I tried to mention you just like I did above with [MENTION=81047]farmerjon[/MENTION] but it did not pick up for some reason. Maybe because you are a moderator or something. Lets try it one more time @SV Dude did it work?

I got the notification when you quoted me. But the tag didn't work because there isn't a space between SV and Dude. It's an underscore "_".

I think I have figured out how the number system works. When someone tags you in a thread (tag username at the very top of the thread), the tagged threads number under your username will correspond to how many times you have been tagged on a thread. Tagged posts are the same.
 
@SV Dude try to "mention" me by adding the "@" sign before my username like [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION]. You can also try to tag me by going up above the first post in the thread and clicking on the dropdown box marked "Tag". Then just type my username with no "@" sign.

Alright so I am going to try again by [MENTION=24995]SV_Dude[/MENTION] using the underscore...

I tagged you on the top of the thread and it put a "1" under your username for tagged threads. So that pretty much just shows how many threads you have been tagged on.

Now, after I hit submit reply, you'll have a tagged post because of this: [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION]
