Texas T4R Owners?

Ive lived in North Texas for 10 years, it seems like the only offroading and camping near by are in Offroad parks. Does anyone know any places where you can do some offroading and primitive camping without being confined to a relatively small park area?

Depends on what you are looking for. As already mentinoed; BMRA is a good park a few hours east of Dallas with lots of trails to explore. There is also the K Trail is 4 hours away in Oklahoma. There were some issues a few years ago but I have not seen any mention of issues lately. The K trail is more overlanding than crawling/ off roading. Then there are the High Water Trails in the Ozarks in Arkansas. The Ozark National Forest is a great place to spend some time overlanding and finding some great views/ trails. I was up there at the beginning of October with a group and wish I was there still.

Ive been to a couple parks near by. I just dont like how I need to drive 80 miles to goi offroading. I grew up in Nevada and we had the luxury of BLM land. We did a lot of offroading and rural camping. BLM land has some downsided but for offroading, camping, and target shooting it is a blast.

Ive taken my FJ40 to Bridgeport and BMRA and had a blast. Now that I have my 4runner I want to get a little more into overlanding. It seems like Im going to need to drive to west Texas or out of state to do that.

Yeah there is not an overly abundant amount of public land in Texas like there is in California/ Nevada areas. Overlanding around Texas is generally either BBRSP, South Padre Island, or out of state.

Just a heads up, I had a hard time finding camping sites. Most sites I called were booked up full... For what I assume is either because of hunting or because the weather got cooler. I am headed north to find a site. Good Luck.

Good Shop / Dealer mechanic

Im in North Texas North east of DFW. I work in Plano. I am looking for a reputable place to have a set of tires mounted and balanced. Money is not much of a concern I want it done right the first time. I used to go to my local dealer for tire mounting but I had a bad experience so I need a new place. Anyone know of a good place in the McKinney-Allen-Frisco-Plano-Murphy-Wylie areas that they trust? Just looking for a few good recommendations before I get a price quote.

Snow flurries (supposedly) in Houston! News anchors kept talking about north Houston seeing some, and then my wifey confirmed seeing some in route to work....I GUESS she can be considered a reliable source.

Just throwing this out there; going to sell my Matterhorn full length rack for a 3rd gen. The rack was used for one trip; just think I am going to go back to a 3/4 rack. I will post up some pics tonight but I will make someone a good deal. I would prefer face-to-face since it is so long shipping is a pain.
