One book closes, another one opens. Wednesday, I will switch from my 2008 4Runner to our new family expeditionary vehicle 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. Our family has expanded beyond the 4R. The deal was great and I'd be a fool to not pass it up plus my wife has been nudging me to get something newer and stuff like that doesn't happen too often.

Thanks to all you on here for the good, bad and WTF(*&^%$# times! It was a great experience!

Out of all the vehicles I have personally seen with 300,000 to 600,000 miles on them...most are Chrysler products. I sometimes wish I had kept my '12 JK Unlimited. But good luck and I'm sure you'll love it.
 
I will probably be joining you as a Jeep owner. My 03 4runner is still going strong but will need to be replaced eventually. I have driven 4 or 5 5th gen 4runners and I do not like them. The 2014 updates make it look even uglier and they did nothing to the engine and trans, not even a 6 speed auto. We have test drove several Grand Cherokees but not the new 2014 and that is what the wife wants.
 
If you could afford the turbo-diesel option in the Grand Cherokee...that would be heaven. I've owned a couple of Jeep Liberty diesels...fantastic rigs. The GC would be even better.

Otherwise, I'd recommend the Hemi.

The Pentastar has had some teething issues and it doesn't make much low end torque either which sucks for a 4x4.
 
It will definately be the hemi. That is why I do not like the 5th gen. I am disappointed with the engines lack of low end torque. Give me a V8 option in a new 4runner and there is no doubt that is what I would buy. Also when I buy one I do not plan to keep it 10-11 years like my 03 4runner. Then again my 91 Wrangler which I recently gave to my son is still going strong with minimal repairs after 22 years. I see the Xtera is going to be new for 2014 so I may check it out also. The 4runners are getting a little to big for my needs.

Also, me being a big guy the GC is way roomier!
Happy wife happy life! When my wife says get a new vehicle, that's what I'm doin!

EDIT:
Thats why I didn't get a new 4R no V8 or any options at all! WT??? The Summit is top of the line, it has it all V8, Quad Drive+Quad Lift etc.... You can get the V8 in an Overland, Limited and maybe others. I almost bought an LR4 a few months ago but the lease payments were higher than Ice Cube in Friday!
The GC has 99% of what the LR4 had but my payments are WAYYYYY lower. I am a happy dude!!!! Doin the happpy dance!!

Lease payments?? hmmmmm, sounds like after the lease is up, you MIGHT walk away................... yeah, you'll be back! Hahhahahhahahha
