He hasn't done ANYTHING worth a damn since his election but he did manage to pay back all his political campaign supporters, attempt to ban assault rifles, and then sell us to China. I don't think a single person would've voted for him if they knew he was gonna turn around and do this. I think I'm gonna drop Spanish class and pick up Chinese! Congress, PLEASE impeach this idiot before he does anything worse.

I have a hard time seeing how this relates to 4Runners.

I am going to move this to "Off Topic". I would also say the story looked like it belonged to the National Inquire type magazines you see in the grocery store lanes, it was full of half truths and rumor, but hey go for it.

I tried to tell people, hes NOT to be trusted. Sure none of them can be trusted, they will say what ever it takes to get elected, LIE TO YOUR FACE, but hes BAD.. no one wanted to believe me, I think people are starting to see the REAL Obama.

America will soon realize hes bad news, but Im affraid it will be to late.

I wonder what the Obama supporters will have to say about this...RonM?? SonRunner?? Alaskaman??

the CNN money summit is on right now and its pretty interesting. expensive stores like neiman marcus and abercrombie and way down but stuff like walmart is going up, and food industry is actually going up.

the news people are saying people are actually learning how to manage and spend money more wisely and that will help the credit industry and make everything now start to make a turn.

That needs to be at the root of any major changes in our economy, IMO. People need to learn how to manage their money wisely in order to ensure our economy can sustain itself. That said, it's obviously not the only thing that needs to change in order for our economy to improve.

And in regards to this "hate" on Obama, all I'll say is that people are just looking for reasons to criticize him. I will admit right now that I haven't looked into the details of the story you posted, Jordan, but I will research it further later. But I just think it's amazing how many people are looking for reasons to criticize the President.

Amazingly, there was a poll on FOX News' website that asked the question: "Are you rooting for President Obama to succeed?"

And mind-blowingly, there were people who voted "No". To me, that is absolutely ridiculous. Why in the world would any U.S. citizen want their President to fail? Do they not realize that if the President fails, then that has negative consequences for the country and all of its citizens? If you don't like the guy, fine. But that doesn't mean you should be rooting for him to fail.

Sorry to get off on a tangent there but I just wanted to voice my opinion about some things I've been witnessing.

I think it's acceptable, necessary even, to be critical of a President. It ensures he is held accountable for his actions and I think it's important for people to be involved in politics and knowing what the President is doing. However, it seems like people are more looking for something to criticize Obama for. No President is perfect, it's a given that Obama is going to make decisions that will receive flak from the public. It's part of the job. He never promised to be the savior of the world and that as soon as he got elected everything would improve x100. It takes time to effect permanent changes and to be this critical of him this early is a little unfounded, in my opinion.

Hmm, were you not watching Obama during the election and hear his prolific promises??

As i wrote in this thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?postid=396128#post396128

I think that Obama is finally realizing that President Bush was not all that crazy! His decisions on big issues are not all that different!

I'm not going to respond to tabloid reporting and half truths and my take is we'll see what things are like in a year or so and not a month into his presidency.

It took Bush a while to trash this country so it's going to take a while to fix it.

If guess if McCain won things would just simply be perfect peachy? McCain never really had a plan and thus was one of the reasons he lost the election. Also Palin and McCain's relationship was not so solid at the end and I still feel sorry McCain had her pushed on him.

I'm not an Obama lover but I did prefer him over McCain and now it's a wait and see thing and even if McCain won I wouldn't be a hater and I'd still have my fingers crossed with him too.

I'm simply not going to spend time on these threads since it doesn't do any good arguing now and I'm just strapped in and ready for the ride we have for the next 4 years and am not going with all the negativity of of these threads and need to focus on positive things in my life which aren't going too bad right now.

So far, Obama has made things WORSE. His tax plan is outrageous, stimulus plan is ridiculous, and everything else he is doing I don't approve of. I am not saying the country would have been in great shape if McCain was president or some other Republican or Democrat, but Obama is not the answer to our countries problems. If anything, his policies are causing people to not want to work.

I agree with Thai 100% about what he said about Bush.

haven't we been borrowing money from china for awhile now though? (i didnt really read the article so i dont even know if that has anything to do with it)
and i wasn't really much into politics until this election but didn't Bush have a stimulus package too? and if Obama is similar to Bush on major topics then why are republicans giving him so much backlash?

To me the man hasn't even been there for a hundred days yet and already getting b.s. let his plans go in affect and if they flop then i'll join your side of hating on him, but if they dont then why can't people just be happy? the economy is bad already, people need to focus on the good things in life now instead of fueling hate to a problem that has started almost for a decade now.

I am rooting for Obama 100% and maybe I'm naive but I wouldn't jump to any conclusions just yet. After a quick Google search I could not find any of the major media outlets specifically backing the claim that Obama has granted eminent domain rights to China. The Bloomberg article refers to the fact that China wants US currency to remain strong relative to Chinese currency. That's no surprise because because the Chinese have so much invested in U.S. treasuries (they don't want their investment to devalue). Also, it's one of the premises that Walmart's business model is built upon. (making a shirt for $.25 in China and selling it for $10.00 in America). The Chinese want their currency to be weaker than the U.S. dollar - this stimulates the Chinese economy by increasing their exports to the US. (i.e. it's cheaper to make something in China and import it than to make the same item in the US)

HOWEVER - if this turns out to be true I would be sick to my stomach and will start looking into armor plating for the 4Runner like the Land Curiser Prados in the Middle East have.

Yeah I think overall people need to realize that Obama hasn't even been in office for 100 days. It's not like if McCain were elected things would be totally perfect, like RonM said. Give the guy time to put changes into effect and wait to see what the results are over time before everyone jumps down his throat. Like I said: People are looking for reasons to criticize Obama, and some even want him to fail.

I voted for Obama (I think that's obvious) but it doesn't mean that if McCain had won that I wouldn't be hopeful that he could turn this country around. I just don't think he would have been able to do it better than Obama hopefully will. I just fail to realize how people thought Sarah Palin would be anything but the worst VP in presidential history but that's another argument for another thread.

Didn't you hear the news about Rush Limbaugh? About him rooting for Obama's policies to fail? The policies that take individual liberties and capitalism from Americans?

Yeah I agree with him. It's nothing new though as he explains.

I don't think that anyone wants Obama to fail...it is more that everyone is laughing their ass off because Obama (and his supporters) promised the world to UNinformed citizens. It is like a little boy with big eyes looking at the world and thinking how great it would be if there was peace on earth.

Well, we all know about his "breakthrough" policy with Iraq! :D I love how he now goes down the same path as Bush with Iraq...even defending Iraq's invasion! :) Wasn't this the same man who promised so much during his election and bashed Bush like there's no tomorrow??!! Could it be that he is INEXPERIENCED? Nah...of course not...apparently, having an inexperienced VP is much worst than having an inexperienced President!! :D

In addition, some of his policies are showing signs of too many brains in the Think Tank! There is no direction to what he wants for this country. Everytime that he opens his mouth, stock market drops like a rock! Every stimulus plan is greeted with a further fall in stocks!

In other words, Obama has not done anything spectacular...certainly not living up to his Christ-like billings by his supporters! Remember, the 1st 100 days is the HONEYMOON PERIOD...in other words, these are likely his best days of his administration! :D

I sure hope that the honeymoon period is not the best of Obama....

Don't worry...it is during these parties that Obama gets the chance to go "line by line" through all the US policies to eliminate excess spending! :) The stimulus plan is a perfect example of such....
only IF:
"You would have felt like a fool talking about politics at this party," said Eleanor Holmes Norton, D-D.C., said after one major event. "I was surprised how much of a social event it was and how little of a political occasion it was."
