If you take the time to read my post, you'll see that at no point did I express support for Obama. Actually, I did not vote for Obama. But you, being an expert on me and my political philosophy, knew that already.

I get my news from various places, all on the internet. If I find something that is of particular interest then I'll go to a few different places and read articles. I like going to aggregators because it puts a lot of sources in one place. I'll visit Google News, Yahoo News, and Drudge each about once a day. I don't bother paying attention to anything that's "breaking news" because it's too susceptible to inaccuracies and bias. Usually each pub just wants to be first to report so they don't bother doing things like checking facts. I try to get facts, put them into my historical/ethical/ideological perspective, and then come to a opinion that works for me.

I don't have any problem with op-ed pieces, talk radio, and such so long as people take them for what they are. I'm just pointing out that everything someone "reports" isn't necessarily the truth.

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?'

I said, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.'

That is a great email. I am still waiting for at least half of the country to see the truth about Obama. Reading about Obama's ideas about healthcare is also a bit scary.

Advice to all members: TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR HEALTH. If you get sick in the near future (and if Obama gets his way), then you better hope that you are somehow related to Obama or that you have a simple case of toe fungus! :D And hopefully, you will have a local hospital that is still in business to go to....

yep. this health care plan is garbage. the only people that will benefit are people that work the system and hypochondriacs

How about the taxpayer sponsered night in Manhattan? With so many people out of jobs, what a great way to spend money. People are frantically searching for jobs and trying to make due with their scarce resources while the Obamas are out for a fancy night on the town.

In case anybody was wondering, I didn't vote for him either!! :p
 
I hope you guys don't think Obama's the first one to waste taxpayer money on non-critical trips.

Bush went back and forth to Crawford 77 times during his presidency. A 2006 House Oversight report put operational costs for Air Force One at over $55,000 per hour. Just the flight time alone, assuming a 2 hour flight, which is probably low would cost almost $17,000,000 over his term. Before him, Clinton took vacations in Martha's Vineyard and Bush Sr. took trips to Kennebunkport. Even if no other costs are incurred, which is never the case, the cost of flying AFO by itself is pretty large.

I'm probably going to be labeled as an Obama supporter or a "dumb ignorant liberal" but I think it is worth pointing out that this isn't a new presidential fad.

Also, if cutting $100 million from the budget is so small and insignificant, why are we discussing these trips which cost a fraction of that amount?

but hes the one that was saying that he is going to make people/gov. acencies accountable, make sure that government will not WAIST money, HE WILL STOP WAISTFULL SPENDING, yet his he and his family is NOT accountable :confused:

Do you know what its like to lose 60% of your income to taxes? Why the fvck do people who dont work/make a lot deserve my parents' money???????

USA has always been the land of OPPORTUNITY. People immigrated here to be American - not Chinese, not Arab, not green, not orange, not anything else because it was about the opportunity here. Silly whack job liberals want to take that opportunity of the American dream and just give it out when nobody really deserves it.

Please tell me how this is fair as I really cant see how it is.

It will be interesting how the NJ election for Governor turns out. If Corzine(pinhead) doesnt win then it is clear that the people in America realize that Obama isnt all he talked himself up to be and that a republican will be taking the next office.

NJ is a political microcosm of the USA FYI.
 
Firstly, I don't know anyone who pays 60% of their income in taxes. Maybe there's business income tax and then personal income? If your parents are paying 60% of their income then they need a good tax person. And entitlement spending - medicare, medicaid, social security and the like - is a total disaster. So I'm with you there. When Madoff runs a ponzi scheme, they call it fraud. When the federal government runs a ponzi scheme, they call it social security.

What I'm saying is I don't think Liberals/Democrats have a monopoly on government waste. In the 2009 Omnibus Budget, 6 of the top 10 earmark amounts were from Republicans. 5 Republicans and 5 Democrats were in the top 10 for highest number of earmarks. Are Democrats wasting govt. money? Absolutely. But it isn't a Democrat vs. Republican problem. It's a politician problem.

For years, US Congressmen/women of both parties have campaigned in their home districts by saying some version of "We fought for you in Washington and got you xxx jobs and xxx money and it's made this a better place!" and everyone cheers and hollers without realizing it funded a study on the effects of carpal tunnel syndrome on a rare species of butterfly.

Voters need to look for politicians with the country's needs at heart, not the constituency's. That's the first step. And voters need to tell their candidates that if they vote for wasteful projects, no matter where they are, they better not let the seat get too warm.
