For lack of knowing the mechanical term for it, what is the thing that beeps when you press the lock button on the fob?

Whatever it is, mine has died and I really just can't live without that classy beep noise when I lock my 4Runner

Toyota calls it a "buzzer", even though it chirps. Maybe a translation issue?

It's located on the passenger fender, way to the rear.

Isn't it a separate unit on the passenger side of the engine compartment. I think mine says denso on it... could be totally wrong, but it looks like a separate 'horn' though

It is called the piezo. The part is a marine part made by Floyd Bell. I believe it is part number M80.

He has a 1998, so it uses the RS3000. RS3200 uses this part.

Yup, I missed the year. My bad. My number is good '99-'02.

Technically, the 'chirper' is not part of the RS3200, because that is an add-on to the factory wireless door lock system. The chirper is part of that system and comes on trucks with and without alarms.

I just discovered this. You can get the RS3200 kit on Amazon and add it to a truck like mine with wireless locks but no alarm. I'm not going to bother because who is going to steal a 15 year old truck, but I might have done it earlier on.
