THatfield's 2000 SR5 Build/Record (Big Pic Warning)

Anyone who follows this thread (if anyone does haha) you've noticed I've been trying to get my truck lifted since the day I bought it. Well I was really close... and then I discovered 3 leaks.

Rear Axle Seals leaking
Steering Rack leaking
Valve Cover Gaskets leaking

This is going to get expensive.... So I'm at the point where, do I dump ~$2700 in parts to get the ole Runner up to snuff, or bite the bullet and move on to something else. Well I went back and forth in my head... and went (and still am) on a shopping spree at Camelback Toyota. So there's going to be a lot of work. I'm not sure I'll be able to do every job, and I can't trust just anyone to work on my truck. So I'm at an impasse there but I'll figure it out. But coming up is... more maintenance (and mods!). If possible I'd like to find a e-locker rear axle and bench rebuild it and then swap in when I'm ready. As for the steering rack, I'll be installing a safari rack when I install the lift/diff drop. Valve Cover gaskets shouldn't be too hard, but I'm sure my dad and I will find some important parts to replace while the engine is somewhat dissassembled.

She's at 163,000, and with this "small" investment of about $3,500 in repairs and improvements, I should be driving this thing for 163,000 miles. As for lift, still torn between Toytec and Sonoran Steel. My truck did get rear ended, so the rusty rear bumper is gone! But the wobbly brushguard is still driving me nuts. So I'll be throwing on a bumper at some point.

Short story: Truck needs typical 4Runner repairs, will be getting repairs plus mods. Yay!

Now for updated pictures.

This thread will be a combined record/build of things I do to the 4Runner. Although not exciting, most posts will more than likely be maintenance, with only a few being mods.

Hey Taylor sorry about all the problems. Hey don't know if you need new tires or know someone who does...but I was on "Let Go" last night and ran across a great deal.

The tires are General Grabbers AT2 size 255/65/16. Guys said he bought them and decided he wanted bigger. Has 1000 miles on them. He paid $1,100 for the tires and is asking $300!!

If you can't use them ....maybe pass this along. Be a great deal for someone needing that size!

letgo - 4 New 255/65/r16 General... in Canal Winchester, OH

Good luck and have fun installing all your new parts!!

RussToy I just actually got 4 brand new tires. But I'll pass along the good deals for sure. I'm definitely looking forward to putting on all these new parts. Should be like a whole new truck by the time I'm done! Lol!

Well this thread will be soon coming to an end....

Bought a 99 SR5-Highlander with Diff lock. It's a clean slate that I'm looking forward to building on. Already ordering parts!
