hey guys so finally got around to installing my hellas with teh factory fog switch meant for our years, part number 84160-28010

quick run down for the wiring of the switch, hold the plug as if it's mounted,
then remove the yellowish.white plug guard that sits around the prongs now the top 2 prongs are the contacts for the green light and the bottom two are for the on/off circuit , to make things easier on you just splice the line to run the power from the bottom prong to the top prong and then connect your grounds.

BTW, you better put some kind of sealant around those wires as they come out of the rubber boot. It's cheap insurance and here's why:

I had 2 wires ran exactly like that for my fogs. Three months later I noticed the carpet under my driveside floor mat was soaked. Took forever to locate the source of the water, but I traced it back to those wires going thru the boot to the engine bay.

When it would rain, water would drip down into my engine bay right at that corner of the vehicle, fall onto those wires and magically ride the wires into the cabin. Once inside, the water would fall off the wires and drip down into the driveside carpet. Over a few months, I had a nice collection of water. Ended up having to replace the padding under the carpet. But that motivated me to put down a layer of sound deadening material and all new padding while the carpet was removed...so it all worked out.

id toss atleast the wire that goes from the relay to the lights in the trash and go with some 12-14ga

the switch was 12.95, walked right in to the dealer and told them what i wanted, i think people get crazy with this internet thing and look to much in to stuff. for me the 13 bucks was more than worth it to have a completely looking stock interior.

as for gauge of wire used this is sort of a temporary set up, i plan running 3 banks of light all coming off a buss hooked up to a continuous duty solenoid
and 2 of these on for running the truck and one for my laptop lights and camping stuffs. if i wire everything up right i'll be able to jump the truck off of either battery and have no current draw effecting performance from the main battery.

i just need to save the $300 bucks for the hid lights i want for the roof rack then the other $325 or so for the batteries and then $14 for the solenoid
and wire well i got tons of that stuff, so in short when i'm pulling real power i'll upgrade the wire to some nice extreme climate/oil resistant wire on there of a appropriate gauge. seemed like a lot of time to do start messing with the harness and all of that if i'm just goign to rewire everything in a few months. lol

This is great now i can wire 2 hella's and have the inside look stock. only $50-$60 total.

This is completly run off its own wiring right? i want them wired separetly so if i lose the main lights i have back up aux.

sorry to take so long to get back to you, yeah they are independent so if your driving lights fail for whatever reason you should be able to just use the hellas to get you home.

i went to my dealer to get another factory fog switch to plug my backup lights to, and he told me 62 bucks for the switch!!!!! i told him no thanks, id rather pop my hood and connect the positive wire everytime... so for now i have the cheap ghetto rigged switch...

seriously? $62 dollars? i would have laughed him right out of his own shop, try another dealership mine was only $12-20 from magic toyota in everett,wa .

i agree i would never ever pay more then 22-25 for a switch period, i think there is a website others have used that does custom switches for the 22-25 dollar price range (i believe the link is in the main write up for installing hella's on another forum)

Me too! It drove me nuts trying to find the leak. I would suggest wrapping the wires in tape, then use some silicone sealant to stop the water incursion.
