The 4Runner Has A New Home, I Bought A House!

I made the big plunge last week and bought a home in my already home town of brentwood, It will close at the end of august and thats when i'll be moving in. I'll have a few buddies move in with me to help with the rent. i was wondering if my runner will fit in the garage once i did the lift and i found out the other day that it does, Whew!!!
It's a 3 bedroom 2 bath 1558 sqft on a 5000 sqft lot, and it was built in october, so now the fun yard work starts!

That's the smartest thing you will do with your money. A home is so much more than four walls and a roof. You'll love it. Now get ready to spend all your car money on your house!

I spent my fishing money and car money for it. Now I have a great looking place to display my 22 rods nad same number of reels all nicely stacked nad rcked but no fishing......:frown.

I bought into a new subdivision in December '03 when price were overpriced but still imaginable. With a lot of help fomr Dad in an early inheiritance for a huge downpayment, we got into an 1,817 square foot house, 8,300 square foot lot, 10 foot ceilings, 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, seperate den/office, fireplace and sunken tub/seperate shower in the master. We just had one of those built in BBQ units with marble top and matching stucco to the house installed The price for our house is already at half a mil up here. $500,000! Prices are out of this world now. I dunno how people do it.

For Brentwood, I know the price could buy you half the state of Oklahoma.

But you've got nice digs. Now comes the costs for the backyard, patio, built in BBQ, pool, hot tub, etc....

Hey, I noticed that my house has similar layout as yours...garage on the left, bedroom/offfice window right up front, front door in an alcove on the right.....our sub has that mediterreanean stucco and rock front fascade look.....get ready for those HOA dues and HOA meetings and HOA warning letters if you let your yard get too many weeds (I'm the HOA president for my sub and I just get an earful....I used to tell peole "can't we all just get along.." now I just yell "I dont want to hear your bitchin' so SHUT THE EFF UP!" Now that's a good HOA president.....:bash:

yeah i know its the best thing i could do,
my parents help me out with the down payment on a interest free loan, but everything else is me, and its all it my name!
im a realtor so i know how crazy the market it! i bought it for $45,000 under market value, it was a client of my mothers and he was selling it and my mom said that i may be interested so i went and checked it out and i loved it! i met the owner and he told my mom he was so impressed by me that he wanted me to have the house, so he literally took off $40000 off the price which was all equity to him anyway cause he really wanted me to get a house. he bought jis first house when he was my age and he did me the biggest favor ever, so i bought it and im able to have full access to the house prior to close, it has granite counter tops in the kitchen and all tile in all the bathrooms and he also gave me all the appliances! today after im done with work im going over ther to plant ten douglas fir trees on the rights side of the house. im sooo excited but i do know that i wont be having much money for the 4runner and the chevelle restoration for quite awile!

There is a Brentwood in Northern Cal as well.

We got them with the tiles in the bathrooms, no fiberglass drop ins. House came with black stove, black oven, so I ordered one of those black double extra large sinks with those fancy Moen pull out sprayer faucets and matching black side by side fridge. Had to get bunch of new furniture.

Just sign your paycheck over to Home Depot. No more 4x4 stuff, no more bling bling wheels, no more stuff for the car.....

One thing I recommend, get/install overhead shelving in the garage so that all your crap is off the floor and over head. My neighbor is a General Contractor and was so nice I asked about instaling some overhead storage and he came over nad planned it out. I bought the materials nad he did almost all the work oin Saturday. 4x8' 3/4 inch plywood going around the garage in a big L shape. Now Wifezilla hogs about 90% of it for her garbage.

This beats the floor shelving becuase floor shelving takes all the room you need to open the door when your car is in the garage.

The price for our house is already at half a mil up here. $500,000! Prices are out of this world now. I dunno how people do it.

For half a million, one could buy a 1,200 square foot condo where i am, hehe. This craziness has got to stop sometime. Over in Atherton, or "Google Country", mansions go for $15 mil, since Google's IPO.

OUCH!

My home is worth about that amount and is a 3300 sq. ft brick front colonial on two acres in NE Ohio. 4 BR/3 1/2 bath with full basement, 3 car garage, and many upgrades.

Of course real estate in our area is not appreciating anywhere near where CA and FL but at least it's affordable!

That sounds like that house would be in piedmont (oakland hills) and it would probabaly be going for 5-6million at least.
basements are soo cool i wish we had them out in cali more often well i just wish i had one

Thats not completely true because you must state the area at which that house is located, if that house was in san francisco it would be worth more than that, if that house was in brentwood it would be worth high 300's that was a piece of crap! you can get a darn good house for 690 in my area and alot more areas

Thats not completely true because you must state the area at which that house is located, if that house was in san francisco it would be worth more than that, if that house was in brentwood it would be worth high 300's that was a piece of crap! you can get a darn good house for 690 in my area and alot more areas

yeah, i guess i take it for granted that when people talk about outrageous california housing prices, they're talking about the bay area. last year, that was what you could buy for around $700k. this year, about $850k, up twenty something percent..
