The beauty of 'Pure Gas'

Hi All-

Just thought I would share my results using pure gas (no 10 % ethanol).

All stations in my county only sell gas with 10% ethanol. This results in less than great gas mileage. In my average driving (some freeway, some city) I was getting about 17 MPG's. Keep in mind, this was during winter, which has a negative effect.

So, I decieded to try some ethanol free pure gas. I found this website that lists stations with pure gas and there was a station about 15 miles from me.

After using this gas (87 octane) for the last month, my average mileage is now 21 MPG's. I think 2 MPG's are because it is no longer winter, and the other 2 MPG's are from the gas. Also, I took a little road trip through some back country roads - mostly 50 - 55 MPH and few stops. For that trip I got 24 MPG.

There's about 4 stations in my general area that sells "ethanol free" gas, it's sometimes 10cents a gallon more than 10% ethanol, so, for a couple bucks more, you get better mileage. I use ethanol free in both my T4R, and my Corvette.

Good idea. It's better on gas milage and the engine from what I hear. I wonder if ethanol blends have something to do with all these threads with people complaining about worse than expected MPG's?

Jeez, I checked that website and it had only 2 in the whole state of California!!! Not sure driving 200 milies is quite worth the ethanol free fuel.
