The beauty of the 2nd Amendment

I have no doubt that eventually some idiot president will outlaw all but the simplest of handguns, and maybe also keep hunting rifles/shotguns. The more this country pushes toward touchy-feely, gotta-save-the-people-from-themselves, politically-correct crap, the more rights we stand to lose.

Its easy for girls like the one in the video AND Dr. Coffee to talk about guns rights or citizens rights. Easy to claim people need to "stand up for their rights" ...

But they have never served in the military or risked anything for their county.

If there was a draft they'd probably dodge it like Cheney or Romney did.

Agree with Brian & bucknut... A lot of people have lost touch and sense of exactly how valuable our rights are, and take them heavily for granted. Thus, alot of these "anti-gun" idiots have never been robbed or know what a threat to life and liberty are. Somebody will show them, but let us pray it isn't too late. They will never truely take our rights away though. The people will always fight back.

So. I watched the video twice and I'm not really sure what I was supposed to take from it?
Am I missing something? What was the goal?

Also, unrelated. I like how the video talked about miss america (or whatever) being fed questions and answers and the girl in the video seemed to be reading from cue cards? Anyone else notice that? (she might have written her own cue cards or may not have used any at all--just thought that was funny.)

Grade school must be out for the day. Such cutting remarks could make me cry.

Wimps like you give the Navy a bad name. Man-up soldier. Remember the Constitution you swore an oath to uphold??? Maybe go back and re-read it.

The 2nd Amendment is Second only to free speach in order of importance. And by the way, those are not suggestions as Leftists would have us believe. They are CONSTRAINTS on the FED Government.

Cut the 20 year old girl some slack. Lets see you make a video without some kind of script. Whether she was reading it or not, she came across as sincere with conviction. And all the while having FUN.

We still have Scalia on the SCOTUS and did you see how he bittch slapped the Chicago machine with their bogus gun ban. Gave DC a good wack as well. And just wait for the AZ immigration ruling. Yahoo!!!!! sanity will be brought back to the US of A.

no offense, and i agree with "kind of" what your getting at here, but you need to also remember just because some of us haven't served isn't because we don't have the same love for our country and rights as those who do , but rather because of our distrust of the policies set by our government officials, If i could trust that our elected officials would spend my life wisely i would gladly join, serve, and die for my country. It is not cowardice to see the abuse of our military services overseas by the government and decide that you don't want to be a part of it, In my opinion (because i always have one ) the most cowardly of all Americans are the apathetic , the ones who don't have an opinion, the ones who don't care, the ones who see what's going on and turn a blind eye then go back to their big mac, either way, for or against , serve or don't serve, i don't care, Just use and appreciate the rights you are given..... moving on

Yes Izzardman (& more) but I don't hear you "raising the alarm" about our rights being taken away spouting Alex Jones and Glenn Beck garbage on T4R about America attack from within. Serving is not a total measure of ones patriatism, specifically there are plenty of patriotic people who never served (obviously)

...

BUT whenever I meet / read / hear someone commenting about America's "freedoms being taken away" OR "America is under attack" .... I consistently find as in this case that those who claim scream the loudest patriotic jargon are NOT veterans of the military of public service.

This site is full of veterans. I obviously dont speak for all. I served 6 yrs and two deployements. I realize it is a diverse community.

Moving on.

What does this matter though Brian? Are you suggesting only veterans should be able to make these statements? Are you saying non veterans are any less patriotic - or don't have as strong of a voice as those who served in the military? Or their statements and opinions should be discounted because they didn't go through boot camp?

Last I checked, the Constitution protected all citizens - not just those who served in the military. There are other ways of serving your country, right?

No I do not think that. Perhaps you should re-read my comments.

I do support ones right to bear arms and unlike that dumbass chick I know to actually shoot one.

I do not support "open carry"; I agree with law enforcement groups that it makes the job of LEOs much harder.

I've stood multiple gun watches in foreign countries and at US bases. Usually with a shotgun, 9mm or mounted 50cal. Believe it or not the Navy still trains with weapons, especially those of us who were in WEPS dept.

So I guess my main point is

1) that those of us who have carried weapons as protectors of your freedoms have at the minimum a different perspective than those who haven't . The same applies to cops.

AND

2) Why is this type of "they're taken my freedoms away" BS almost always posted non-mil, non-LEOs, non-public servants?

I did. Multiple times and it was still unclear. Your comments are vague - perhaps I read a condescending tone however. Regardless, I asked what you're trying to say or imply - so that I could understand what your comments mean. What does it matter if those people never served a day of their life in the military?

Guys, you are reading this man the riot act because he thought he would be cute with his post. He has a personal bone to pick with me on one or more threads. In a childish way, he follows me around T4r tossing insults at me. Only this time he smeared all non vets in his quip. Just ignore him.

Once again, It is fun to watch him twist and squirm as he tries to restore his political correctness after showing his true colors. Free speech is only for his point of view. All others are to be disparaged and ultimately silenced.

Brian, Why don't you support open carry or even concealed carry? I have both Utah and FL conceal permits and I not only have sit a class, prove shooting proficiency but should I make a mistake navigating my way through every different communities laws, I'm held to a stricter standard. The legal gun owners aren't the threat to society. It's the criminals. I'm of the belief that an armed society is a polite society. And that only people who are legally allowed to own firearms are in that group.

FL concealed carry law proved that with a 20%+ drop in violent crime in the first year it was implemented. Not only was that incredibly fast for any results but dramatic as well.

Please don't equate standing guard as an occupying force in a foreign land to American citizens exercising their constitutional rights(not privileges). We're not in a war zone.

Obviously everyone who supports liberty also supports gay rights, distinct separation between church and state, is disgusted by the Arizona law and is pro-choice, right?

Lesbians and gays don't bother me at all. I'm free to live as I wish and they are as well. Church and state should be separate, otherwise you'd be able to force your religious theory into practice and potentially alter my lifestyle. Pro choice shouldn't even be a point of discussion - the woman and man have to deal with their decisions and will have to answer on judgement day. With regard to the Arizona law, I'm honestly not educated on its mandates as I should be, however I do agree that state rights should largely usurp federal rights and it is the federal governments job to protect the republic.

Probably not the response you expected from me, was it.
