The beauty of the 2nd Amendment

This site is full of veterans. I obviously dont speak for all. I served 6 yrs and two deployements. I realize it is a diverse community.

Moving on.

:P

I was planning on joining the marine scout sniper school, but I broke my back 3 years ago and can't enlist, am I a lesser patriot than you, king condescending? :boink:

You can swab the decks matey, I'll pick people off from a mile away.

(I don't agree with your comments earlier, especially about Glenn Beck... But in all seriousness, I thank you for your service.)

Good one. But it has nothing to do with what I wrote because I wasn't crying. Obviously you are too moronic to be able to read. But that's your life problem not mine.

I don't believe you can simply "join" as a scout sniper. You enlist, then apply. Not much is guaranteed in a Marine Corps. enlistment contract.

As for the video, a 20-year-old who is, for some odd reason, wearing an ammo belt around her waist like she's in a heavy metal band (?) doesn't have a whole ton of credibility as far as telling me what my government will or won't do.

what are you talking about? there has been beastiality for that long too. are you saying it should be considered for legal marriage as well. please compose your thoughts before spouting nonsense. that statement is irrelevant.

What was your logic here coffee man? Were you seriously comparing bestiality to gay marriage? (or marrying animals to gay marriage?)

I'm asking for clarification because that is just about the most depressing thing I have heard on this forum.

You think TSA agents frisking your daughter is bad...what if she was gay? What if she had to deal with bigotry like that on a dialy basis? Would you still stand up for her rights?

If I misunderstood you I apologize, perhaps I made this response in haste. I look forward to the clarification.

There are many more comments I wanted to make on this thread, but I think I should just head back to the 3rd-gen section. This thread is a bummer.

right, sophomoric, depressing and sophomoric, that's all i can gather from his drivel.

@ dr. coffee, study the natural language section of linguistics and really just the basics of linguistics, then look at types of marriages, and then lastly, the etymology of the word marriage itself. After you do that then come back and talk to me about the philosophy of words and the meaning behind them and how you are right, until then you should just keep your mouth shut unless you know what your actually talking about.

my previous response sounded the way it did because i gave you a bit of creditability that you may actually know how human language works, how we come to know and use words, and lastly how they become defined, you obviously know none of that, i tried to help you with the above, if you cannot see how you are wrong, let me put this in front of you and see how it sits.

idiots refer to it as the "gay marriage issue".... right there, you labeled it as a type of marriage, i agree it's certainly not a christian marriage or a atheist marriage or any of the other kinds of marriage, but it's a marriage, the second your kind started calling the issue "gay marriage" you lost, like it or not GAME OVER.

Find a 20yr retired Marine and ask him how they do promotions.

Yeah, he's probably a Lance Corporal - if he kept his nose clean :)

"Needs of the Corps." baby. If your MOS doesn't need any Staff Sergeants, you ain't getting' promoted, regardless how stellar you might be. And given the smaller size of the Corps., your particular MOS might not need any SSGT's for quite some time. Retirees who are lucky to make E-7 are not uncommon.

Dr. I hate black people Coffee started his very own thread? Impressive feat for such a simpleton!

I'm amazed such a racist bigot low life is allowed to persist on these forums.

Every forum has one I guess.

If you are referencing marriage, No again. Marriage is a religious based pairing of a man and woman. The gay life style does not fit with the religious teachings of Christianity, Islam, etc. Just because two Gays want to be married, doesn't make it acceptable. They can cohabitate, they can have civil unions but marriage is a sacred institution with specific requirements. Sorry but thats life.

As Christian bigotry and hypocrisy, or religious bigotry for that matter, is a pet peeve of mine - I'll stoop to your level and address a few things you're too painfully stupid to grasp.

Take note:

*God does not ask us to choose between compassion and faith in the Bible.

*There is no explicit directive from God to exclude and condemn homosexuals, the Christian community’s treatment of gay persons is in clear violation of what Jesus and the New Testament writers pointedly identified as the most important commandment from God: to love one’s neighbor as one’s self.

If there is no clearly stated directive in the Bible to marginalize and ostracize gay people, then Christians continuing to do so is morally indefensible, and must cease.

*Homosexuality is briefly mentioned in only six or seven of the Bible’s 31,173 verses.

*The Bible isn’t a rulebook, and Christians cannot lift out of its context any passage from the Bible, and still hope to gain a clear understanding of that passage.

*Using the four Old Testament passages to condemn all homosexual acts is not in keeping with any directive from God, nor with the practices of contemporary Christians.

*The Bible’s clobber passages were written about same-sex acts between heterosexual persons, and do not address the subject of homosexual acts between a committed gay couple, because the concept of a person being a homosexual did not exist at the time the Bible was written.

*Because there was no concept of gay marriage when the Bible was written, the Bible does not, and could not, address the sinfulness of homosexual acts done within the context of gay marriage.

*Being personally repelled by homosexual sex doesn’t make homosexual sex a sin.

*Outrage isn’t always moral outrage, though the two usually feel the same.

It may feel to a straight Christian that their instinctive negative reaction to homosexual sex arises out of the Bible. But all of us necessarily view the Bible through the lens of our own experiences and prejudices, and we must be very careful to ensure that lens does not distort our vision or understanding of God’s sacrosanct word.

Am I reading this wrong, or are these statements contradictory or confusing? If the concept wasn't in existence, how was it acknowledged and written about?

Confusing , homosexual sex Is talked about but, not homosexual love in a monogamous relationship, from a scientific view homosexual sex is condemned because in those times we needed people to breed and carry on blood lines and the human species as a whole , so it was condemned along with masturbation to encourage the spreading seed , same reason other religions suggest having multiple wives , and basically we don't need to breed a lot of people anymore for our armies and fields so these sort of passages aren't needed anymore , along with various other ones that are outdated and ignored for various reasons, alot of it just isn't relevant anymore like stoning your wife because she's not a "maid" when you got married ,along with a bunch of the other screwed up stuff that's in the bible.

i usually make no efforts in arguing the religious aspects of such things with people, as things like the bible are open to massive interpretations, there are over 3,000 different denominations of Christians alone, does that mean thy holy father and Jesus are sending the other 2,999 types of Christians to hell because they interpreted the scripture wrong? Personally, I don't think so, i'm in the line of thought with DR.Coffee that all gods/religions are the same, And the inherent teachings are all the same, which is "don't be a d1ck" Dr.Coffee is obviously failing at this though, so i don't really think our line of thought is really all that same in the end...haha

But doesn't that suggest you can pick and choose what is applicable and what isn't in current times? Who gets to pick?

I'm not arguing homosexuality but the thought of "this or that passage does not apply now." Seems dangerous to allow that mindset - thou shalt not kill or covet thy neighbors wife doesn't apply because (fill in the blank).

well, your talking 2 different things here, a crime that has a victim and a moral obligation to some higher power, our government is setup to have a separation from the belief system of the latter, so no one is unjustly persecuted for their stances or beliefs, only crimes they commit.

so it's not really picking an choosing, one has a clear injustice that has caused physical or monetary damage to another human being, the other is a moral choice depending on background and up bringing, again why we don't base our governing bodies on any sort of religion, there's also a sort of social evolution at play as well.....where it used to be cool or not cool to do certain things, like drink beer, times change and we decide as a whole society that the *****es who wanted to ban beer where re****ed and we moved on from that. there's more to it then that, as there always is but, that's the jist

i gotta jet , late for picking up the woman, can chat a bit later though

if you mean picking and choosing excerpt from the bible that's another whole ball of wax.

This. And my examples were literally grabbed out of my ass as I was on the throne earlier when I responded. Granted, even the most strict Christian picks and chooses certain things, but I think you may have slightly oversimplified your thoughts earlier.

I'm not disagreeing with your views per se, but what about the notion people are born with the homosexual gene argument? Was that gene invented after the need to procreate was of less importance to society? Let's not argue whether it's a gene or simply a predisposition.

if you can agree that even the most strict of Christians pick and choose parts from their faith, agree that Christianity is a religion of love not hate and agree that being gay for "some" people is not a choice but are rather born that way, i see no reason why you would not allow gay people to marry, it just doesn't make sense to me...

like i said before, the word marriage is lost, so that's gone, now you're just segregating at this point for the sake of spite, it's sickening, whatever happened to hate the sin not the sinner, even in the bible Jesus does not condemn the murderers and thieves on the crosses next to him, he offers them salvation, why do Christians not act like this ?

when was the gene invented? it has always been there, it's genetics, you don't invent human genes , they are basically on or off, active or nonactive, look into the history of rome those were some gay mofo's !!! like i said, RELIGIONS condemned homosexuality for the sake of procreation , NOT genetics , so, i don't really know what the argument here really is?

(btw i was christian for many years, home schooled for a bit, various churches, summer camps the whole 9, Christians spoiled me on Christianity not god)
