I think I need a napkin...
Ive been boosting 4 cylinders since I was 16 and have used holsets, great turbos by the way. Anyways what fuel mods are you going to run, injectors, lines, pump? What you going to use to control the fuel for engine management? How much boost, what AFR's and what type of fuel you going to be running.
Im really thinking of turbochargin my 4runner. I want to run 10-15psi on e85 but I'm not sure what you guys use for fuel control. I have an old Apex SAFC and greddy emanage sitting around but I dont see much info online of people running them.
Yup, the HY35 is a great turbo and should spool very quickly. My waste gate spring is a .5bar/7psi unit. I will leave it there for the time being. No immediate plans to up the boost. At 7psi no additional fuel mods are necessary because the factory ecu is capable of adapting and supplying fuel at this level. Clownmeat, another user here, is running around 7.5psi and is seeing AFR's around 12.5 in boost with the factory ecu tuning.
I am running a remote system rather than having a custom manifold built. I have my scavenge pump installed, oil lines are run (oil feed is not hooked up), boost gauge is setup. I just need to bolt up the turbo, run charge piping, and have a bung welded in for my wide band. I'm a graduate student right now, and have been very busy with work, so I haven't had time to finish, but I only have 4 weeks left of the program until I graduate so I anticipate being done in no more than a month and a half (ideally sooner).
Waiting on Corbeau to make brackets to install these (apparently they don't stock these brackets so it takes 4-6 weeks to build 'em)

Took half a day for me to do the fronts and half to do the rears myself with only hand tools and running into various issues. Compressing the Tundra springs to disassemble the coilover and installing the 4Runner top hat was a royal pita with the autozone spring compressor and no vice/workbench. Taking out the rear struts is nearly impossible because there is so little room between the top of the strut and the chassis. The engineer that designed the rear shock mount should be killed. Coilovers and springs from Rocki Top Auto. LC shocks from Autozone.
I'm very happy with the finished product and used all Toyota parts. The ride is fantastic. Can't wait to go to Rausch Creek Offroad Park this weekend. More pics to follow.
