The Chinese Special TRD Grille... on the cheap!

I installed mine last night! The tape seems to do a heck of a job holding them on. Pegs work well but they do move around a little bit in the pegs, so you'll have to go slowly while installing.

I was pretty concerned about how difficult this job would be (I can never seem to work on a car without breaking or tearing something up) but I got it done in around 30 minutes. Plus, I'm 5'4" and had no issues reaching everything!

Pictures of the corners?? I understand even the OEM grill doesn’t sit flush. If so this is a good buy.

come with the upper grill piece?

I spent a lot on my oem garnish and upper grill, and my letters are stuck on with some sort of tape as well. And as mentioned, there’s gaps on either side. This grill doesn’t seem like
much of a compromise from the oem pieces.

Nice thread! I personally love the look of the heritage grill, and I haven’t regretted the money spent even once. But I would have felt even better about spending half the amount like you guys did.

It’s complete with the upper grill insert and the black Pro strip with letters. And I just noticed TSO is running another sale, dropping their kits down to $350..i guess they cannot give them away now after getting undercut by inexpensive Chinese labor costs!

Here's my Limited to TRD Pro conversion buying from a Chinese eBayer during the 15% off so I paid ~$137ish. It came to my house in maybe 2 or 3 days.

I ended up drilling a hole on the top and bottom of the center piece (zip tied the top and nut/bolt on the bottom side. The double sided tape it came with was trash and I wasn't even sure if it was touching the OEM parts underneath. I did the zip tie close to the edge on top so when the upper grill was on, you can't see any of it. The bottom I used a small nut/bolt and tried to center it so it looks clean to me. Gaps on both sides will definitely catch a lot of dirt so I'll have to see how it holds up over time. Overall I say 10/10.

I’m so glad I didn’t buy TSO during Black Friday for $380 + 4 weeks waiting period. Usualy price believe is around $425. Currently selling for $350 Christmas sale. Also i saw his comparison pics of TSO vs the Chinese made and theres no way the gap is that big on the Chinese replica. The gap i see on mine is about 2cm on driver side and 1cm on passenger side. No biggie. No reason to pay double/amost triple for TSO one.

This one i got off eBay for $166 is almost perfect!

Looking good...hopefully i see mine tomorrow! Any tips on lining up the letters? I know someone mentioned adding the letters before the grill is on and gently pressing them down, taking a look then pressing them down firmly once they are all even.

My husband suggested using painters tape to line them up before pulling the tape backing to keep them straight.. great in theory but more trouble than it's worth.. Just go slow and have good lighting to line up the pegs on the letters to the dimples in the mold. And yes I strongly suggest putting the letters on before you put the garnish on the car. They stick pretty hard as soon as they make contact so you won't have much wiggle room. Good luck!
