The Chinese Special TRD Grille... on the cheap!

Looking at the grille and really like it, but not sure if I want to run the lights or not.



Would there be any reason why I couldn't order the one with lights but just not install them? Any difference in the upper grill between the standard and the one with lights? Are there gaps in the upper grill where the lights would fit if left uninstalled?

Not a single difference. One has LEDs and one doesn’t. Sizing is the same.

I bought one and you could see where the toyota part number was removed. Likely tooled from an oem part.

If you run an add a fuse to the under hood fuse box and plug into the Tail/Stop fuse they will come on with the parking lights.

Can anyone confirm what fuses they got in the box? I got 10amp and 5amp fuses. Is that ok to use in the INJ slot in the fuse box? I am trying to follow the video below and the guy put a 10amp and 15 amp fuse. The video on the Cartrimhome website has similar installation but does not show what fuses were used.

Ordered the grille, smoked lights and fuse holder. Recieved the grille and lights, but missing the fuse holder. A little disappointing, but stoked how the grille fits and the new front end looks!

Mine was delivered crazy fast. It didn't come with extra tape, not sure if others still are? I bought some 3M stuff and put a few extra strips on. Super easy to install. I'll get some pics in the next few days. Overall, great product at a great price. Thanks!

I’ve seen some of these Cartrimhome kits come with clip-on lights and others that are mounted on the grille with backing plates and screws. I would prefer the clip-on lights (I think). However, on their website, there doesn’t seem to be a way to specify which type of mount (clip-on or backing plates) you want. Am I missing something?

From what it looks like on the site the 4 amber lights are the snap in style and the 3 black (smoke) are the screw in style.

Also for the previous post regarding fuse type a 10 amp will work fine, and will work fine in the INJ slot. You don’t need a second fuse unless you are already using a slot that contains an existing fuse, then you would have that one in the add a fuse holder as well. Not sure why in the video he put two fuses in, I think he was just guessing and filled both the slots. Will still work though.

Just placed my order for the 4 LED yellow and grill. Huge savings and from reading page after page of reviews looks like a great alternative and savings compared to the OEM version.

Thanks for the great posts and pics. I'm beginning my LE to TRD-pro bumper swap and this saved a few hundred bucks. Already have the bumper and will be taking it to the paint shop shortly.

That’s a shame. Email them to make them aware and/or request they mail you one. They will respond quickly. I’m also going to provide this experience to my POC and make him aware.

The smoked/matte black lights are definitely the ones with the backing (that’s what I run). Not sure about the four piece.

Looks great! Glad you like them! I know they slip up from time to time (I'm working with them on those mishaps), but their grills are great quality and their service is getting better. Based on DMs from a few of you, it looks like they restocked some of the LED grills in the US again. I haven't been able to determine which ones yet - 3 LED, 4 LED, and/or the matte black edition.

EDIT: Confirmed CT has more of the '3 light' LED grill lights in their US warehouse. Everything else comes from China right now and looks to be about 7 days to get here (customs is the hold up).

And for those who keep asking, 'no', CT does not ever have sales - Labor Day, Black Friday, etc. These grills sell like hot cakes at the current price so they have no reason to reduce the price any further.

That seems to be the current average based on discussions with them recently. CT is excellent about shipping orders the next business day, but the delay is always due to customs, which is 100% outside of CTs control.

This is one of the next mods I do. I'm hoping to find a cheap lower front valance to paint black to match on my super white SR5. I need that stormtrooper look!

no worries on the wait time, I am actually considering having the part painted SW and possibly painting the letters the same silver of the lower valance or black. I haven't seen one like this yet.
