The Chinese Special TRD Grille... on the cheap!

This may have been mentioned, but i got tired of reading about shipping issues.
I have not seen or read anything about the stock "grill surround". Lots of angle down and shadow pics (even the vs. Vid was shot in poor light). Is there not a gap where the toyota oval meets the surround? Toyota lists a "Grille Surround - Toyota (PZ327-35054-J1)" as part of the pro.

Also, in the vid where the guy claims to be OCD it shows a fair amount of flex/ warping (on the aftermarket "bumper garnish)where the oval was removed. Any issues with this?

Found the answer to one of my questions. Nice to know the sales rep is so forthcoming.

Out of curiosity what differences do you see between your grille and your friend’s pro?

fitment on the sides (gaps). Toyota letters not having to be glued on.

I know it's there, but stepping back a bit from the truck it's not that noticeable. He had his truck over the other day and side-by-side it's more apparent. Not a big enough difference for me to dump the cash on the OEM part.

Completely agree. Way too much to spend on some plastic. If not for the CTH aftermarket version I wouldn’t have done it. As I keep saying, I’m hoping they will make the pro bumper Valances for cheaper too.

Have you looked at getting some TRD OR take offs? I got a nearly new set off a FS page locally after looking for only a day. I mightve gotten lucky though. Gonna have the body shop shoot them, the grille and the rear hatch trim satin black all at once.

The issue is I don’t care for the looks of the silver OR valances. I like the look of the pro black ones. I could paint them or dip them but obviously the more permanent option is to replace them with the black pro valances. But just as with the pro grille, the OEM pro valances are way too expensive for what they really are, just some plastic and clips. So I’m hoping at some point there will be a cheaper aftermarket version. I would imagine it would be a good seller.

Well, as a owner of a ‘20 ORP I sit in the same boat. Let me know a little more about your journey, I’m sure the original part fit but will that avoid interferences on the radar as well?

I actually ended up trimming it with a Dremel tool. It wasn't that difficult using painters tape as a guide.

The only issue I'm left with is that the 2020 grille support/bracket doesn't fit the upper grill insert. I'm not sure if a support/bracket from a 2019 would work or not.

Visually, everything looks great and we are using it, sans the support, but I would like to put one back in it.

is there any word on 2020 versions?

They are not currently producing these at this time but it may be something they explore in the future. The design of the 2020 is different than the previous models (obviously) so its still a waiting game. I know I read some people buying the grill but having to modify it pretty significantly - not sure its worth that headache.

Does these come USPS and need signature for delivery? I had a package delivery attempt yesterday and the sender line said "Intern." I'm guessing that was short for international. Gonna go up and pick it up tomorrow. Ordered last monday, so a little over a week for shipment from China isnt too bad!

I’m gonna try to sell the grille first, and then I’ll see if I really want to go with this combo. Til then, maybe they’ll have a whole set I can just buy altogether, don’t see the need of me splitting the items that I have and hold one piece and wait on another piece, and have the possibility of not selling the upper insert. I think I have a better chance of selling the whole thing together

Is there even oem 2020 upper grill mesh currently available? At my local dealer, they had this xp predator 20 model, and front grill they just left it as normal SR's with just black out emblem, even chrome accent on upper grill was left alone. I was under impression that all predator package models suppose to get pro front grill.

Email them on their website. They are very responsive and very helpful! Had a crack in my upper when it arrived and they shipped out a new one.

So is the issue with the garnesh or the trdpro overlay grill or both? I looked at my SR5P today and noticed the safety sensor would make it difficult to get the TRDPRO cover over it.
