The Chinese Special TRD Grille... on the cheap!

After a good wash for the new year, I noticed the whole bottom portion of the black grill piece is no longer stuck on( both sides). It's been about 8-9 months. To be fair to the China guys, I did put it on/off a cple times during the initial install trying to get it straight and even but I removed the tape each time and used new good 3m tape (thought was good).
I'm thinking now either yank it off again and re-apply w/new better tape again or just go OEM. I gave away my upper grill piece w/ blk overlay a while back, kinda regret that now!
Not looking forward to peeling all that tape off again. That sucked!

Get some plastic pry tools and some heat. Makes short work of it.

How do you remove it without too much damage? I have some ideas, but would love to hear some real world experiences.

I guess apply a little heat and give a careful yank here and there and slowly take off the blk piece. The residual tape will take some time to get off to not scratch the paint.
Goo be gone, wd 40, heat, raw fingers, etc

Sorry bud, I'm going to take it.
Mine did the same thing. Was able to pry it off by hand on a hot summer Florida day with no issues. Reapplied with some overkill 3M tape.

Ha! It's going down to the 20's next week, and I don't even have a garage....only a sad little carport. I removed a small emblem a few years ago and used a 3M product designed to remove the glue. It didn't work all that well, but hwnrunner may have done the same thing I did. Pull gently for a while till it comes off. Remove the glue residue later. That parts easy. Just don't want to ruin the garnish. Thanks all, cheers.

Remove the upper grill. Use two plastic flat pry tools (you can get like a 10 pc kit from amazon for like 20.00. Really helps taking the snap together Toyota apart) apply heat work the tools from the top back edge, across the top. Working the tape loose, once the top is done use the tools to push the cover off (from the inside), again working from one side to the other. Its kind of like de-laminating a counter top without using lacquer thinner.
Hey thanks, but I'm not taking off that grille again...ever! I broke two parts, thankfully small, and it was not worth it. I have the pry tools, use them all the time. Once it stops freezing, I'll use the heat gun carefully and work it off a bit at a time. Appreciate the help though. Thanks.

Generally, no CT won’t refund you for a delivery that occurred. Almost every other time someone has reported this, it was with their local post office (or similar delivery service). CT can’t be on the hook for issues after a shipment has occurred and delivery has occurred. This would be like any other online retailer - you’d have to work with the delivery partner to file a claim and what not.
You can reach out to CT but given what you’ve stated, I don’t see them being able to assist too much. Always worth a shot though...

Hey, man. I didn’t see anything come across. But, I did confirm someone in my household (not pointing fingers at the boss lady) either threw the grill away or misplaced it. So, this is on hold for now. [emoji35]

No worries! I added some tape to stabilize for awhile, will likely yank and reinstall later. I prefer this look better.
