The Chinese Special TRD Grille... on the cheap!

Ordered a grille from Taco Vinyl for my 2015.
Went with their version because I like the ability to screw the letters in. Unfortunately, even with just a screwdriver, I stripped some of the holes on the letters.


Question for the thread:

I did notice with the letters on that there appears to be a bit of space after each “O”. It almost looks like “TO YO TA.” I’ve seen some online that I think look this way and some that don’t. Is this normal?

Finally got home to check out the cartrimhome grill. Quality seems good, can tell it's not quite OEM but at a quarter of the price (in Canada) of OEM, I'm happy. I replaced the adhesive tape with some high quality Wurth automotive double sided foam tape as what came on the grill seems to be of dubious quality. Mounted the letters and they are spaced evenly and look good. Will install tomorrow so can't comment on fitment yet.

Installed my grill today and if I was to give it a rating, I'd say 6 or 7 out of 10 in terms of fitment. You can see in the following pictures what I ran into.

In this picture I had to trim the area the arrow is pointing to with an exacto knife or else the painted part of the grill sat on top of it, raising the profile of the top of the grill.

In this picture you can see the trim kind of dips down as there is nothing underneath to support it.

The overall contour of the black trim piece also doesn't seem to match the exact contour of the the grill that it covers so it kind of pops out a little. Not noticeable and I doubt it's gonna fly off but it is an issue.

So would I buy it again? Probably not. If I wanted to spend the money I'd go OEM but if you're not looking to break the bank it does the job.

I just tried to order off the website and get it shipped to Canada (Alberta) but they cancelled my order and sent me an email saying they don’t ship to Canada. Has anyone else had this issue?

Did anyone else's valance pop off? I got mine from cth and the passenger side has been popping off. I reapplied 3m vhb double sided tape and it's popping off a little bit. I taped the hell out of the valance and bumper and pressed it on real good but now it's off again.

Most of them from Cartrimhome are dipped/wavy in the middle.

I shimmed mine with foam so it looks really flat.

I have a question for those of you who have purchased the grille from 4runnerlifestyle.com and have a 20/21 TRD Off Road Premium. Did you need to cut or trim anything or did it fit perfectly? Because on their website it says only compatible for 21 TRD Off Road but does not fit TRD Off Road Premium model? What's the difference don't they both have TSS?

I bought mine in early 2021. There are dimples in the valance for the letters but you still have to line them up a bit.

I have the TSS model and i just saw a TRD Pro in the parking lot to compare. The cth one seems a little smaller... what i mean is that even if you push the valance all the way in you can still see that it is not truly all the way in if you view it from the top. Whereas the OEM one fits in there perfectly with the upper trim piece. I have a white 4r so you can definitely see a gap where the valance and upper trim pieces meet.

Ordered CTH grille on November 6. Because I live in Canada, I am unable to get the "ship to US only" one.

It's now December 9 and I still haven't got a shipping notification.

I did however receive the black overlays today. Some of the overlays are very thin and warped at the edges, and most of the pieces have flashing along the edges.

At this point, I'm going to try and cancel my grille order. Between the long lead time and the poor quality overlays, I think I'll source one from elsewhere.
