The coldest?

What's the coldest temps anyone is driving in, and what do you have to do to start and run your 4Runner that isn't needed in the sunbelt?

Carina71 said his temp guage went to -00 at -21 F and it was about -40 when that happened. (Alaska)

It regularly gets to -36c (celcius) here and I have no problems. I usually plug it in but if I don't it still starts fine and has heat within about 5 minutes of driving.

last year I had to drive to the airport when it was -36 F. I don't plug it in or anything. Turned over after a couple of seconds. Got to the airport, go on my flight. When they put the "de-ice chemical" on the planes wings it fooze on contact and the flight was canceled.

-50 degrees...

I live in Alaska and have experienced the -50 woes. My runner is winterized, starts fine. Heater is not as efficient when its that cold, and your suspension rides pretty rigid, but it's doable.

In Southern California we have been having record rain falls and we had a cold spike today. It dropped to 50 degrees last night. It was so cold I rolled up the windows on the way home from work last night. If the temp drops any more it might be so cold we'll need to turn on the heater and keep the windows up....brrrrr. I'm sure glad I have that 5w-30 oil in the crankcase. Imagine trying to start the engine in the morning with 10w-30. But don't worry, I've checked the antifreeze and we're protected. So I guess I can really understand what it's like in Alaske, we both have to deal with temps in the 50's.

HAHAHA! Geez, I better get to the dealer and get mine "winterized" as well!

I caught a break and my company transfered me to Sacramento.
No more cold starts! No rust out here either. I will have to leave my trusty and rusty 4Runner behind and get a new one out here.

Hey, Waz, we've heard the rumors about white stuff falling out of the sky and making things cold....but we're from southern California and we don't believe anything until we see if for our selves.

Yeah, that mythical stuff that floats from the sky,...I'm taking the runner and my snowmobile and playing in it tomarrow. We have about 4 feet of that "stuff only in stories". I am from AZ and know the flip though, enjoying while I can here, and back to sunny AZ...oh, I haven't seen it above 30 degrees since last october. Enjoy the heat for me...
