The Darkness. 98 4runner build

I bought this 4runner from a lady last fall . It needed a front bumper and some bodywork on the pass side from a mild deer hit.

I fixed the body and decided to shoot it black.

The paint turned out good ,but I am going to shoot some more clear on it .

I added some Fox 2.5 coilovers and Camburg UCA's

I had to notch the upper mount to clear the res hose.

I am still deciding on the rear shock setup . I'm thinking of ome 890 coils and Bilstein shocks.

That's all I got done so far the Michigan winters have made disassembly a big pain.

Nice! Wished you kept the OEM color (one of my favs), but black is never a bad call. Any wheel/tire plans?

I'm not sure on wheels yet . I am going 285/75/16. For tires though.

I started driving the truck recently and it was running like total crap. The muffler was blown out at the rear. The battery died and had a bad cell. I was getting the oil changed and it was super hard to start in the oil change bay. I drove it home and it was running a little hot ,I would pull lover a couple times to let it cool down . My goal was to take it to a muffler shop and then an alignment for the wheels . I called a buddy that has a tacoma and he said his ran like that from the muffler being bad. So I got a factory replacement muffler and checked the antifreeze ,it was low. After topping off the antifreeze and installing the muffler I took it for a ride. It was fine . Weird ! Apparently the antifreeze being low was the heating up issue and these trucks computers hate air leaks in the exhaust. I have been driving it for a few weeks and it runs fantastic . Yea!

I did install some ome 890 rear springs and some Fox 2.0 smooth body shocks.

The ride is amazing now . I got the alignment done and to me it's still off on camber. The tires look a little like this " V ". Hopefully this won't ruin my new tires .

I installed a pioneer video deck to make my commute more enjoyable.

I finally got my rims and tires on this beast too.

Level 8 wheels with Nitto Terra Grappler tires

I really like these they ride like a dream and look sweet!

The darkness. Hahaha!

The only issue with the purchase was Discount tire sent me 3 hub centric rings the correct size. And one stupid big size one! Thanks guys! Hopefully they come through with the right one . The tiny red ring these add is really cool in person,and it's a pain to tighten the lug nuts on the one missing.

Thanks! I'm not going to do much more to this truck. I think maybe a trd supercharger and the Urd 7th injector is next. I need to fill up my savings after the wheels. My buddy has an incredible 3 rd gen tacoma . So I'm kinda just copying his truck. So I know how much the supercharger can add. His runs 265-275hp at the wheels on a dyno. He did a long travel front and that's where I got my front suspension from. So far this is almost as much fun to drive as my 1st gen 4runner. Street duty for this and maybe blazing the dunes.

I figured out how to embed from youtube finally . This is my 1st gen getting it done! I had a crowd of people trying to figure out how to get me unstuck. I dropped in a washout and a large tree was in there. The tree got jammed into my back bumper and no one could figure out how to extract me. I got tired of waiting and decided to just extract myself! Hahaha! I will not be doing this with the darkness runner. It will not see snow or mud! : )
