The decade of recalls?

Geez, we all love technology... but what's going on here?

• The recall, which affects about 1.6 million vehicles worldwide, covers vehicles in which the ignition can switch to off while the car is running, disabling the power steering and air bags. GM has been harshly criticized after admitting that its engineers were aware of the problem as early as 2004, but the cars were not recalled until February of this year.

• Honda is recalling nearly 900,000 minivans for a defect that could increase fire risk.

• Last year Honda recalled 344,000 Odyssey minivans of model years 2007 and 2008 for a sensor issue that can cause the vehicle to brake on its own.

• Nissan Motor recalling more than 1 million vehicles in the United States and Canada to fix a software problem that could prevent the front passenger airbag from deploying in an accident.

• Toyota Motor (TM) agreed to pay a $1.2 billion fine to settle a criminal probe into its conduct surrounding a 2010 recall for unintended acceleration.

Well the nature of most of those recalls spells out the entire story.

Cars are rediculously complicated these days and with the 10x complexity comes 10x the problems

Repair costs are out of control for the same reason...
