Ya know this certainly is worth mentioning. Swap the front two tires side to side and record what happens. Jacked up tires with belts separating or bubbles forming in the casing does happen. Even on fancy high dollar tires. I’d think in the last 30 years of vehicles I’ve owned I’ve had at least 2 or 3 pulling issues due tires doing stupid things. Last ones was Toyo AT2’s. They got a Bubble. The old TBC tire’s Schwab used to sell (maybe they still do, I don’t know) they were notorious for belt separation. I had a pair of Kelly’s on a 97’ powerstroke back in the early 2000s that were a real adventure. If I remember right two or three of the four tires would change all sorts of driving dynamics every time you rotated the freaking things.
The cross camber like phattyduck said also caught my attention as well as the toe on your start measurement.
It ain’t like the old days. Good alignment shops are unobtainium around here now. Thank goodness for that ol boy in Layton utah who sorted out my 05 Ram. I was ready to go lay down on I-15 in traffic I was so damn frustrated with alignments…… I had a one in a million alignment guy before in my town. But he retired super early…….
But before the Utah guy I was on round 5 or 6 of damn alignment….. I don’t know wtf is the deal, but getting an alignment done right seems to be a real challenge these days.
I keep threatening to buy my own rack……. Someday. Someday……
I could see where SPC arms would really trip some guys up. Especially if a customer just thinks it’s all the same. I’ve had shops say give this guy a shirt, he needs to work here maybe 4-5 times in my life so far, and I have never even heard of an arm that’s adjustable like the SPC. They make all the sense in the world when you look at them (at least in my mind) but I can see where a tech who isn’t experienced or maybe is a little light on critical thinking could get lost with them.
