The idea that quantity of posts makes for quality of poster is an interesting notion.

I wonder what metrics you would use to determinate that. If you were using likes/post count percentages you'd find you have over 120% posts likes, I have 59% and Thai has 5%.

Please forgive me if I totally bungled this math, I never did pass Algebra II, what with the pot too and all.

But seriously, is the notion that post quantity equals quality a serious one? Fantastic rants on time bracelets or smart phones aside.

You're right, it is interesting right? I really can't answer that but I wonder too. I posted that metric because of the vast disparity between them. I will say that I have read quality posts from new low post count guys, old low post count guys, new high post count guys and old high post count guys.

You metric does suck. But I do agree with you. You have a lot of posts and probably 80% of them aren't about 4runners. But hey you could also be a doctor for all I know and know plenty about medicine

Here's what I think:
The quantity of posts are just another way to determine the, for a lack of a better term, integrity I guess, of the poster. Post count does not make a poster but it is one metric to judge by. Post count is not important but is just a non verbal clue as to the person.

If two people showed up to teach a class about fire fighting and one had all the gear on and drove a fire truck there and the other arrived in a dump truck wearing dirty jeans, neither opened their mouths, who would you think knew more about fire fighting?

Post count means the same thing to me. Look at the name, age, where from, how long a member and post count to get an idea of the person behind the name. Now a new guy (grimjeeper comes to mind) could post something great and have vast knowledge but it would be unexpected.

I know you won't like this but it's profiling. If you are a human then you profile. Its in our DNA.

I respect your posts. I don't agree much of the time but so what. If we were all the same the world would be a boring place.

My takeaway was that if the new member was so concerned with the "qualifications" of another member, maybe he should peruse some of the 15k+ posts of the member he was concerned with, to satisfy his curiosity.

Post count has never been an accurate measuring stick of whether someone has something worthwhile to say.
