The Effects of Pot

I think we watched different videos. The sheer danger of the super slow driving, ahh!!

Haha yeah the slow driving is ok until they go 5mph on the interstate. Slow driving is a major hazard and is in the top 5 causes of accidents. Not the slow driver wrecking lol but everyone else avoiding them!

So someone finally did a test to show the effects of pot while driving. While it might not be the end-all beat-all lab precision test, it does show what happens when driving stoned. THIS is what I remember my buddies acting like from my youth lol. I never smoked but I drank...a lot. I am from the camp of "the more I drink the more laid back I become" instead of the "I had a beer so let's talk loud and fight" so I kind of understand these guys. Anyway, this video proves that smoking pot and driving do not mix.
This is what driving totally stoned on marijuana looks like

No surprise. Thanks for posting. Perhaps this will open some eyes..... even those that think that they would never be influenced by marijuana like those in the report.

Seems like kind of a useless test. Most of them drove fine. The biggest mistakes were to do with the layout of the course (not an issue IRL), a corner taken too wide and backing into a cone? I'd be willing to bet you could find similar errors with any random group of people who were completely sober.

Personal experiences say this is not true

I really don't think you can make that statement with any accuracy.

One could say, "I don't feel smarter after smoking marijuana."
But, I don't think there is anyway to say, "now that I've smoked, I feel like I've killed brain cells." I mean, its not like we're talking about whipits here (which, for the record, you can feel the brain cells dying)

In the same vein, I don't think anyone could say that they felt cell growth after smoking. Good thing they have these studies to turn ideas into science...

HERB OR NO or (reefer madness)

Well well well , something about this rings a bell ! 2 types that can mellow you out or stimulate the brain , just had a guy @ work who got his card , now this guy is add, bi-polar & some other shit , I mean he can go postal like that got some good kush for naptime & sativa to chill him @ work but still be productive , best of both worlds ! Everybody is different some can handle smoking some not so much , can of like some are angry drunks others get happy . Kinda like the coffee thing bad for ya , now its good . If you try it and nothing bad happens cool , if you trip out probably shouldn't ! I personally still burn it but just a 1 hitter after stressful day ,that and a cold beer ya buddy !:ohwell:

What do brain cells feel like when they're dying?

Ive been smoking weed everyday for over 2 years. The only ill effects ive noticed is some slight forgetfullness and trouble breathing at times which was eadily remidied by the use of a vaporizer. I actually deive better stoned. People who argue against marijuana usage just cant mind there business and let the people who use it alone. It doesnt affect anyone else. If anything alchohol should be illegal.

If we were to legalize marijuana for recreational use, the state could tax it and help us get out of this recession. You have to keep in mind that if cannabis became legalized, it will still be illegal on a federal level. So if the feds roll up on you and bust you three times, welcome to prison for life which i find quite absurd. Just remember:
A high person driving will stop at a stop sign waiting for it to turn green, while a drunk person driving will just drive right through it.

IF you guys are interested, I wrote an essay a couple months back about the legalization of marijuana and such. You can read it here. Please no name-calling, harsh or unwanted comments, or hate.

I am writing you this letter today to inform you about the use of marijuana. First of all I would like to let you know that the prohibition of cannabis has always been a touchy subject throughout the 20th and 21st century. To answer the question you guys are probably asking yourself “Why should cannabis be legal?” It should be first understood, why cannabis is illegal. In the times of propaganda films such as “Reefer Madness”, cannabis was said to have the undeniable effect to make you insane and possibly cause you to kill people. However, through the 70+ year period of its prohibition; through observe use in the African American Jazz movement, The 60s hippy movement, and mostly every other recreational use and display, there has been no crimes, murders, or acts of violence in which ONLY motive was cannabis use.
The illegal agenda towards cannabis has no doubt inflated its value. Today, cannabis is worth more in its weight than gold. Children who are simply too young or not of sound enough mind to responsibly use cannabis are what drive this substance into the ground. Policies like this already exist for tobacco (legal to U.S. residents 18 years or older) which claims 425,000 deaths a year, and to alcohol (Ages 21 or older) with 85,000 annual deaths, both in the United states alone, vs. marijuana which as 0 deaths per year.
A very popular myth "Marijuana kills brain cells" was a test done by many scientists. This myth came from a handful of animal experiments in which structural changes were observed in brain cells of animals exposed to high doses of pot. The most well known study that claims to show brain damage is the rhesus monkey study of Dr. Robert Heath, done in the late 1970s. Their results were published under the title, "Marijuana and Health in 1982." Heath's work was sharply criticized for its insufficient sample size (only four monkeys), its failure to control experimental bias (didn't not filter clean air into the lab cage), and the misidentification of normal monkey brain structure as "damaged". His experiment consisted of feeding 30 joints worth of cannabis each day to the monkeys. Heath then took control monkeys, killed them, and compared the dead brain cells of both variables. Heath found a greater abundance of dead brain cells in those who smoked the herb. Luckily, after 6 years of suing the government, NORML forced the documentation of an accurate, in depth compilation of the experiment that took place. They discovered, almost immediately, that to quicken the overall procedure, Rhesus monkeys were strapped to a chair by gas mask and fed 63 Columbian strength joints in five minutes, every other day, losing no smoke in the process of consumption. So where did the dead brain cells come from? Was it cannabis? Or was it the combined carbon monoxide poisoning and LACK of oxygen to the brain by suffocation?
Many positive effects to this plant include: that it has been proven that the use of cannabis can help relieve pain, cancerous activity, depression, Parkinson’s disease, glaucoma, and even insomnia as well as many other problems with the human body. Hemp is long lasting and far more durable than cotton, decreasing the overall need to buy more clothing. Hemp fiber can also make paper far more superior than wood pulp paper. Cannabis is also a constantly renewable source of biodiesel fuels. These fuels would eliminate the need of oil in foreign countries, and greatly lessen the pollution in our air.
Though this letter may not change your mind on the legalization of marijuana, I hope it really opens your eyes the things it can bring to the society if legalized/decriminalized. This essay only scratches the surface of profiteering against, what might be, the most useful plant on the earth.

Can't support marijuana knowing the effects of obtaining it- Cartels and gangs, bloodshed, turf wars, would call it a gateway drug since most of the time, same people are selling marijuana, and other drugs. Higher profit margins on other drugs for less amount of space- either in pocket, backpack, vehicle. Other than getting hungry and stupid with the "stoner laugh," and alcohol's benefits in MODERATION (ie 2-3 drinks per day- AMA) and haven't seen any benefits of marijuana use other than those receiving cancer and pain management. Don't get me wrong, tobacco products should be illegal but I also feel that way about fast food...I digress with my rambling
You're a big government kinda guy aren't you? When our government starts trying to ban fast food or tobacco... that's when I pack my bags and head north:hatsoff:

Everybody has their own opinions on certain subjects. Most of these peoples opinions are highly influenced by the public, religion, and their family. These influential sources are usually very bias. Take for example religion. Lets say a religion tells you the use of cannabis is bad and you shouldn't do it. They tell you that over and over and over again to the point that you dont even know why, you just give in with what they are saying. People, DO YOUR RESEARCH! Believe what you want but dont favor one side of a subject without knowledge on it.

It disgusts me how much of an impact "society" has on the general public. Dont give in to society. Stand your ground, believe what you want, do your research, and do what ever makes you happy!

Sorry for the vent. This has just been a topic ive been talking about for the last couple weeks and i need to let it all out.

Goes back along way pre-prohibition, up until then no problem The then drug pre-dea got cared away, movie reefer madness influenced many to their current thinking . Anything & everything they could blame on weed BAM . So while you & I know !! Power's that be don't & won't get it! All about the Benjamin's bro Not even taxing is enough

The fact that alcohol takes the lives of 75,000+ and tobacco takes 400,000+ EVERY YEAR and they are both legal (with age restrictions) is mind blowing. People know that smoking tobacco causes cancer and shortens your life span, yet they continue to smoke.
Deaths per year with marijuana alone: 0
Look at the facts people! What is going on here?!
I wish i lived in the 80's. This day and age disgusts me. What will my generation be like when we're all 70+ years old? Thats if anybody can even survive that long!!

Dude relax you should be out chasing chicks or 4wheeling on spring break !! It is what it is ! When it's time it'll happen , my mom was born in the early 1916 & she thought pot was ok ,died from heart failure n 91 smoked all her life . When I told her she was dying from it said only thing she liked to do ! so that's what your up against

After reading this very long thread, I opted to join the team. I have two points. Point one; if I had to chose between pot, beer, or tobacco, being legal... I choose Pot. I partake in none of them, but as a police officer (in Oregon) I have seen booze fueled deaths many time. And smoking tobacco simply because my mother (who has smoked he entire life) is dieing of lung cancer and still cannot quit.

Point 2; the REAL risk of pot being legal. Competition. Lets us all pretend that pot is legal, and it is two years into the future. Cartel no longer supplying it, so the means of distribution are relatively civil. But now you have thousands of Pot farmers trying to sell the general public weed, but they all want to have the sellers edge, so they start making custom blends of pot to give better and longer highs. before long, pot is no longer a natural drug for recreational use, it is a hybrid designer herbal drug. Legislation cannot keep pot safe to use.

Anyone on here who has smoked pot can attest that there is common cheap pot and expensive hybrid pot that can really mess you up. If pot becomes legal to grow and cheaper to buy these hybrids are going to make a much harder impact on a persons ability to function normally. Then arise people baked driving/dieing/and killing on the roads.....now we have an all new enemy on our already dangerous highways.

Just food for thought. As American we have never been good at leaving well enough alone....I doubt that will start with legal pot remaining natural...
