The Effects of Pot

I don't smoke, never have, never will. All my friends do. Maybe that's why I find this thread hilarious.

I love a thread where people share their opinions, it's always hilarious.

You know, i've always been interested in pot. I wrote a 15 page research paper on pro legalization in my english class my freshman year of college. I got the highest score in my class :D

Personally. I think Marijuana should be legalized. I feel alcohol is a far more dangerous drug than marijuana ever has been. I think it would be for the benefit of the country. I do think underage smoking would rise because the parents wouldn't have to hide the marijuana anymore(lets be real, lots of people you'd never guess smoke). But overall, with hours upon hours of research I think legalizing marijuana would benefit america.

I do not do either, drink or smoke, but I know many that do. I have no opinions, good or bad, for people that do or don't smoke. To each his own.

I have never smoked pot in my life but when i see my friends and even girls smoke as if it was not a big deal i at times get tempted to do so too. But am scared what if it becomes an uncontrollable habit.

haha right, kind of like the gangsters and cartels that ran a muck during prohibition in the 20's.... that was bad reasoning on op's part.....

also, just because you have met some less than intelligent pot smokers doesn't mean they are not out there, i happen to be friends with a neurological research surgeon who smokes lots of pot along with various people in my industry who are very smart, (i don't claim to be one of them) graduating from the top colleges in the country and now holding very important jobs, i think we need to get past this whole stupid frigging thing of blaming objects such as guns and drugs for peoples bad decisions, and addiction should never be justification for a crime or wrong doing, but yet it is and people often point to banning things because of this stupid mentality, i'm sorry but you made the decision to do wrong not the drugs or booze, i know plenty of other people who got blacked out and just decided to sleep in their car instead of driving and i know plenty of people who made the decision to drive, and some of them, it cost them their lives, and honestly some of those people where never good decision makers, even back in grade school before the chance of drugs and booze....
basically people should just man up and say they did wrong when they did, instead of whining and sniveling why they did wrong, who cares? you screwed up, own it...... i'm really tired of people just being weak and ruining the world , the gun thread has me pissed because of peoples weakness and fear, this thread has me pissed off because of peoples weakness and fear...

don't get me wrong, i screw up all of the time, but i admit it and don't try to blame anyone else for my folly , i think the guys here who managed to get away from addiction aren't the ones i'm talking about, i'm talking about the ones who spend their whole lives in and out of rehab,i get sometimes people need help and do believe in addiction to a certain level, but just like political correctness it has gone to far and become a a easy way for weak people to remain weak and do bad things while the rest of society lets them have a pass for it......i think we need to knock it the "f" off with all of this social engineering BS , making laws to the lowest common denominator, and hold people accountable.... YOU chose to drink and drive and ended up to killing people, not drinkers, YOU chose to smoke pot and xxxxx, not pot smokers, you chose to kill a bunch of people, not gun owners......quit punishing the many for the actions of a few , that's not a free society, freedom centers around personal responsibility and accountability in my mind.....

yeah, so there's my rant on these couple of threads that have been floating around for the past few days, i'm out of it as i really have nothing nice to say or to add that's of any real value, i just see it such and am becoming ill from by all i can call pussies posting a bunch of crap had to say my piece just to feel better, so sorry for subjecting you guys to this, not looking to start a fight, and this is not directed entirely even at this thread, it's more in general to this thread and a few others, sorry if i have offended, i respect all of you if we agree or not, again sorry for my rant! haha....:flame::flame::hug::hug:

also that quick delete was awesome mods, haha...if you think this is too out there feel free to delete it as well.

I know this is an old post but I had to quote.

In a nutshell, it covers the main issue with the recent approach of "make a rule/law" to protect bad decision makers.

Interesting topical commentary.

Sanjay Gupta: Marijuana can be safer than narcotics - CNN.com Video

On a side note, I'm still fascinated watching this situation change so quickly after many static decades.

I remain wary of the susceptibility of this generational theory to hindsight bias, but it is often in the back of my mind, especially when I see things like the above unfolding. I don't know what else except a generational tidal wave explains what amounts to a nearly instantaneous change in the historical status quo.

lol it's taken the medical field this long to "realize" that it's not even close to being a schedule one narcotic and that it doesn't have a recorded over dose death. I could've told them that..

In 2 days it's completely legal in Colorado and all I can say is that it's about time. People can debate the pros and cons all they want and they'll all be right in some instances. Some people will screw up and be used as "proof" it's evil and addicting while most will be sensible and never draw any attention. As a non-drinker (though I drank a lot until my first child was born) I do like marijuana as an alternative as does my wife who has never had more than one drink in a sitting. Coming from families with extensive CD issues it's the safe choice where alcohol is a very bad choice. I view beer as the "gateway drug" and pot as the safe choice. Just for the record the majority of pot smokers, according to friends in the trade, are sensible and responsible people over 50 despite what you see on the news, etc.

Pot prices aren't too friendly to the recreational buyer due to supply and demand but once more stores open to the general public and things get rolling (ha!) prices should stabilize. I saw an 8th going for $50-70 when those with a medical license like myself can get ounces for less than 150 bux.

Just to be clear

The child mentioned above, Charelette, does not smoke the special mary jane ....

They apply a small lip gloss like substance to her mouth which lets her body absorb the specially formatted THC.

The pictures above make it sound like people are having some kid smoke up ... they are not.

:spy:

I hate how my local news right now, in it's typical low budget sensationalist fashion is making a huge deal about "DABS."

"It's what cocaine is to crack!" So uh, the same thing?

"The dangers of dabbing!" Getting super high on one hit?

It's like claiming a vodka will kill you but beer won't.

it states in the picture her mom gave her cannabis oil.
I did see one young boy who's mother gave him a hit every few hours.
