The Elka suspension thread

If you're looking to save money, get the Toytec Boss Aluma Series. Exact same shocks with different branding. Elka makes them.

Resi's will help keep the oil cooler in your shocks, helping to reduce shock fade. If you offroad over fast sections or for extended lengths of time, resi's will be beneficial. If you don't, don't worry about getting them.

I've been looking at both of these, and try as I might, I don't see anything on the Toytec site that compares with these from Elka:

2.5 IFP FRONT & REAR SHOCKS KIT for TOYOTA 4RUNNER, 2010 to 2020 (with KDSS) (0 in. to 2 in. lift) >> Elka Suspension Inc

This configuration is for use with stock geometry and can accommodate 0 in. to 2 in. of lift with either stock or aftermarket upper control arms.

Everything I've found on the Toytec Aluma Series is 2"-3" of lift...it could be I just don't know where to look. If the Aluma Series had something comparable, I think I might just go with those...not everyone wants to start at 2" of lift.

Good catch! I hadn't noticed that.

It looks like Toytec only offers shocks with the 2-3" lift option while Elka has both 0-2" and 2-3". It might be worth an email to toytec to see if they might have the 0-2" as an option in the near future.

I too would want the 0-2" shocks.

Good idea. Email sent to Toytec.

I just heard back from Anthony Nguyen @ Toytec:

"Unfortunately we do not have the 0 to 2, it'll just be the 2-3 from us with our systems"

So, no 0"-2" available from Toytec in the Aluma Boss system. Too bad.

So I decided to give Elka a try since I don't see many folks have that kit on their rigs.
Plus, these are made of aluminum to battle against harsh chemicals in winter and I live in Canada where winter lasts about 8 months in my area. I also realized that parts would be easier for me to get when I rebuild/maintain them since they are made in Canada.

I have a 2017 Limited and my goal is to make it look leveled and have better performance than the Fox setup on the 2019 trd pro while off-roading. This may sound weird but I always wanted to have a trd pro but eventually, I realized it is all just marketing and my limited has things that are more useful than what a trd pro can provide such as full-time 4wd and dual climate control, so I decided to turn my limited into an unlimited.

I didn't get dual compression adjuster since I knew I would be too lazy to play with them down the road (hopefully I won't regret not getting them in the future). I will keep you updated as soon as I puyt them on as I am still waiting for FN six shooters to come so I can install the tires and suspension all at once. For the tires, I went with Falken Wildpeak AT3 P265/70/17.

Long term thoughts? What style of off loading do you do?

Thanks

If you have the adjusters make sure the adjusting knob set screw is tight. One of my knobs fell off while driving. Hopefully Elka can just send me a new one with having to uninstall from the vehicle.

Thread revival!!
Anyone got current pics of a Limited? Just picked up a 2013 Limited and trying to decide on 0-2" or 2"-3" front lift in Elka 2.0 non resi. Interested to see how it looks with 2"-3" Elka 2.0 rear as she sits ass low right now and don't like the look.
