ridiculous and is gonna force me to sell it...my 2001 camaro ss is getting better gas mileage then my 4 runner..i might as well be driving a f••king tundra...any one else feel this way? and/or have a f••king solution?

Wow, still having low mileage?? Don't forget that the pumps have the winter blend so expect crap mileage. Maybe a change in driving style is in order. I remember a thread you made on this issue a while back..............

1) MAF sensor cleaning
2) replace air filter
3) replace plugs
4) inflate tires more (mine are 34-36 psi)
5) use injector cleaner for every oil change (I use Shell V-power)
6) where do you get your gas (I hope it isn't Giant/sam's club crap)

Anyway, keep us posted!

when i fill up my runner...it usually says 390miles-412miles, depending on how much gas i force in it...maybe the computer isnt reading correctly

Well if you read his previous thread everyone gave him suggestions and he would just argue with them and not listen to anyone's advice. I try not to be a d!ck but come on. Why do the same thread 7 months later? Going to get the same results..... This isn't a highlander hybrid forum, it's a truck based suv forum.

Edit: presta, you're a level headed guy, we seem to see eye to eye on most things here, go read the original thread he had from March and you'll agree with me.

i've done air filter, spark plugs, seafoam'd, all other maintenance is up to date.
i do 95% highway driving, always between 60-70mph.
no cruise and I can't get better than 17 mpg

:iagree: I remember that thread. If your still upset with your mpg's, check out a hybrid highlander like zstampe mentioned. My mom gets close to 24mpg's in city driving.

35's, 6.5" lift, major engine mods, 13-15 city , 17-19 hwy! not gunna complain!!!!

Just from my perspective... I never pruchased the 4Runner with ambitions of good MPG. I bought it as a good reliable work horse, towing year round in a wide variety of conditions. Considering what the machine was designed to do, it has decent fuel mileage. Maybe a diferent model may be good option for you. I like mine.

I am going to make the assumption that since the OP is crass and arrogant in his posts here, that he has a driving style not conducive to achieving good MPG. And therein lies the problem... :zoom:

I've averaged high 23 to mid 24s in my 07' Limited V6 4WD. I drive pretty mild unlike when I take my wifes BMW. Haulin ass in a T4R just doesnt make sense to me.

You can use to much of anything. In your case you were adding a new bottle of injector cleaner each tank??? Why? You were increasing the concentration each time you added a bottle and filled the tank. You probably never burned all the fuel out each tank. So each time you poured a new bottle in the fuel that was left in the tank, maybe 3-8 gallons depending on when you fill it, already had injector cleaner left in it. If you decide to use injector cleaner only us it about every oil change. No need to do anymore than that. You more than likely did not hurt anything but why run all that solvent through your fuel system all the time. I have never run a bottle through my 04. I just run a full tank of good quality premium fuel through every couple months. It still gets 20-22MPG on the Highway and about 17-18mpg in mixed driving if I can keep my foot from the floor.

As far as your trip goes. You were going downhill with a prevailing tailwind on the way there (to NE) and uphill with a prevailing headwind on the way back (to CO). It does not surprise me at all your mileage was different. Just a simple trip from Raleigh, NC to the beach I get better mileage going there than coming hm.:bluejump:

It is funny, with the mods on my car I get 21mpg city and 23mpg highway and that is using regular gas and no additives of any type, not even ever seafoamed! And I dont really drive lightly either...

I was just breaking your balls Stampe, its a truck, if u dont like the mpg's sell it, but will a possibly higher payment on something u dont really wanna drive be worth it for the MPG's?
