Besides. Oil Viscosity is linear. As the oil warms, the viscosity moves up until it hits its top out viscosity. 20,30,40......

Why are you helping him? It's blatantly obvious he's much smarter than all of us and knows more about 4runners and his gas mileage situation. Now he's going to go to the dealer and be a complete ass to some poor service writer for no good reason......

There is no law against owning multiple vehicles. My motorcycle is a big reason I only have 60K on my 04. I also ride my bicycle a lot. Runs on fat and saves me money - not runs on money and makes me fat ha.

I can't help much on the mgp issue - it's a truck.

its not a threat..its just the truth...i wouldnt stoop that low to give out threats on a forum...he seems like that type of guy...talk sh!t on the internet...whats the big deal if i posted the same issue 7 months ago? is there a law against it? and i understand its a truck...but come on..if you were once getting 370 miles on a full tank of gas and now down to 270...you wont be pissed? that 100 mile difference for me a a day or two more i can go without filling up

and i do have two vehicles...2001 camaro ss...the 4runner is the winter time vehicle thats SUPPOSED to be better on gas

The only time i get 13-15 MPG (how your iphone pics say) Is when I drive like a leadfoot. Accelerate slower an record the mpg your iphone says. Also you have a suv, bad gas mileage is expected yo!

Well 2004, I have to agree with you. Not your language (mad or not) but on the mileage. I posted the same thing a while back. I am 65 years old, I am an old gear head and I know about lead footing and 4X4 Suv etc, etc. What I also know is when nearly everyone else posts mileage a lot better than mine I want to know why????? Took my 06 V6 to an Import spec. auto repair shop that I trust and with no solution took it to Toyota. $350 later for cleaning injectors fuel system etc and it still sucks. It might have improved for a couple of weeks but wasn't even sure of that. Soeeee, I am still in the same boat you are. 12.5 to 13.5 tops!!! and thus the reason for me following this thread.
The only thing I would say is don't get goaded into getting banned. Just hit the ignore button and hope everyone else does the same. Takes two to Tango!!! Just saying.
And as a side note, I have the Viper 5901 remote start as well as the Smartstart! Love it.

well i had a fantastic person PM me so he wouldnt get caught up in this petty bull saying that the O2 sensors could be faulty....and he said it is possible that they could be going bad and not send a code...i just might go ahead and replace them..as stupid as it sounds.. since thats my last resort it seems like....if i find a solution i will definitely post

when i was getting good mileage...my odo would read like almost 300 miles if not a little over 300 when i would fill up from a 1/4

I drive an '06 V6 and calculate my mileage almost every time I fill up. The computer typically adds about .6 mpg to the calculated total, but in highway driving I average between 19.6 and 20.5, whereas city driving will reduce that to between 16.5 and 18 or so.

Also, I'm typically a pretty laid-back driver. I'll go maybe 70 or 75 on the highway and I don't hammer the throttle out of the gates too often.

im curious to know what this is all about. obviously this isnt normal. actually, when i was looking for a 4Runner a few months ago, i test drove an '03 V8 sport with 93,000 miles on it. the used car dealer let me take it to my local toyota dealer roughly 30 miles away. i drove normally and got 12-13 mpg. after the inspection, among a few other issues, they said the truck needed a tune-up. toyota quoted roughly $400 for that. and that was the reason the gas mileage was so bad, according to them. the '03 V8 SR5 i eventually bought gets me 17-19 mixed driving.

Well, it is not necessarily that your O2 sensors have gone bad...otherwise, a code would have been thrown...it is more of they (you have more than one) have gotten 'lazy'...slow to respond to changes which could cause your vehicle to run either lean or rich. In your case, I would say rich because of the lower MPG.

In another forum I often browse through, this is well discussed cause for lower MPGs.

Also, are you buying gas from the same gas stations? If yes, have they changed their formulations...have they gone from pure gasoline to E10/E15? That would definitely affect you MPG as ethanol, while cleaner, has less energy density.

Many gas stations in my area use to sell pure gasoline, but now (because of federal mandate) sell E10/E15.

Oh, just some advice and not trying to be offensive here...in your post(s)...the way you word things and the language...you do come across as a punk. It may be that your are venting, not sure but I would tone it down a bit.

im sorry but 15.5 is not normal mileage for this vehicle...mine reads 16.7 and look how much bull im having...the computer only shows an average MPG..not instant or how much MPG you got on the last fill up...thats why i use the iphone app
