My Tule works the same way but I haven't used it on my cross bars yet. But I don't see any reason they won't work. When I test it I'll post.

Thank you for the input. I will have the wind deflector as I ordered the 7/8 rack kit. Just curious if the clamping mounts of the Thule will work or any of the "claw" still clamps. If not, what other options for mounting a cargo box are compatible with these LFD racks?

I should have been more clear. My Thule Motion XT works flawlessly with the LFD bars. I just don't have the Thule on at this time. I used it on a 4 hour trip this summer and had no issues.

After researching Ive decided that the LFD is the best option for me but I am curious what ladder you have installed, the Gobi? anyway I will post pics as soon as it comes :bravo:

Yeah, Gobi for now still. That's a leftover from the lifetime before making our own parts. A ladder is on our to-do list, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I installed one of our revised 3/4 racks on my '16 Trail this past weekend as part of its conversion over to the family vehicle.

I've never actually had one of the 3/4s on my own vehicle before. I honestly can't tell its up there. Its by far the quietest rack option we offer, mainly due to sitting farther back out of the wind. Very happy with this little rack setup.

How much does the 7/8 rack with aluminum cross bars weigh? the all aluminum full rack?
Also, how much height do they add to the roof line at their tallest point?

Are there any plans to do the side rails for the 7/8 rack in aluminum instead of steel? How much weight would that save?

Also, do you have any plans to make the wind fairing form to the roof better? In the site photos it appears to just be a straight cut fairing along the bottom that does not contour with the roof.
I know you've mentioned that you're trying to keep skus low and only have one fairing for multiple vehicles, but honestly that's the only thing that has me looking at something other than LFD.

The 7/8 aluminum weighs around 50 pounds, the full aluminum around 60 pounds. Both of the aluminum options do have aluminum side rails made out of 1/4" aluminum. The full rack is the tallest, and adds about 5.5" at the rear of the vehicle, which should be your tallest point with a factory rake. The 7/8 is around a half inch shorter.

We're evaluating a few faring options to hug the roof more, but honestly the racks are not that loud as is compared to other brands we've all owned. The Gobi rack that came on the red 4Runner I just bought was much, much louder. Each complete rack does have its own wind faring already, the comment earlier about SKUs was relating to the bolt on faring option for crossbars. Complete racks get a crossbar with an integrated faring instead.

Exactly what I want my set up up to be with the exception of using the factory rails (have and like to use my moonroof). Right now I have just the Hi-lift jack mounted. I just need to see if I can fit 1 or 2 Rotopax's to it. I may go with the shorter ARB Tred 800's to see if that gives me more space for them.

Will probably get a hybrid front bumper too eventually. I like the winch access, no other bumper that I know of has that.

The 3/4 sits behind the sunroof and doesn't interfere at all, and gives you about an additional foot of mounting room versus the stock side rails.

I was able to fit rotopax between the Maxtrax and the hi-lift with my crossbar setup on the factory side rails when I had that setup.

Just ordered my SR5 and am super excited. LFD looks to be the best option for keeping the stock roof rails. I have a 14' paddle board that will be going up on top. Do I have to wait until I'm out of warranty to add a full (3/4) rack?

I just use 3/8" SS carriage bolts for my bolts, the square part of the carriage bolt fits right into the slot. I used either 3" or 3.5" (cant remember) carriage bolts and a wing nut for my xbulls.

haha I believe that was me! Sorry forgot to update you on that. The ARD mount did NOT work with the Xbulls. The width was just a tad short. IF you wanted you could make the hole bigger on the Xbulls. I ended up just making my own mount.

Originally went with Carriage bolts but switched them out to 5.5in SS -Threaded rods (5/16). Allows me to remove them quickly (my other accessory mounts are attached via a Tnut). I use a wing nut+washer on the bottom part and a nut + rubber wash on top. The rubber washer keeps the mount from vibrating. To secure the boards I use a clamping nut along with a 1/2in pvc pipe. All in all, very happy with it

haha I believe that was me! Sorry forgot to update you on that. The ARD mount did NOT work with the Xbulls. The width was just a tad short. IF you wanted you could make the hole bigger on the Xbulls. I ended up just making my own mount.

Regarding the question about putting the LFD side rails on and warranty, I don't know for sure but I highly doubt it will affect your warranty at all. The advantage is about a foot more of space up there to put things. I think the LFD siderails look better than factory too.

The only relevant way I could think it would have anything to do with your warranty is if you had a leak in the headliner, they probably wouldn't warranty that if you had installed a rack. Just apply silicone around and in the hole and it's not a worry.
