The LFD Off Road Thread

Anyone else not able to submit a ticket on LFD website? It keeps asking for a verification code but does not give me an option to input one.

I have tried this and sending them an email without getting any responses and now I am starting to not want to continue doing business with them if it is this hard to get in contact with them.

Hey, I don't know why the help desk isn't working for you, we're getting messages pretty regularly all day from others.

I do see your email, and that's on me for not replying yet. You had a pretty long list of questions and I set it aside to answer later and didn't get back to it. We get hundreds of emails a week, and when we see a longer one like yous that need more response they sometimes get set aside to answer later when we have a bit more time, and every once in a while we miss getting back to it.

I was just able to submit a ticket through my phone browser, must be a work computer issue.

Please disregard the ticket since you do see my email. Appreciate you taking the time out to help!

For the skids, which locations use the 4 long bolts and 2 medium bolts?

I'm guessing the 4 short bolts are for the front of the front skid and frame rail in transfer case skid? Do the 2 mediums go with the nylon spacer and 4 long ones between transfer and transmission skid?

(Working under the car is a pain for me b/c of back injury, so want to get it correct first time)

Two of the short bolts go at the front of the engine skid, two of the middle length bolts got at the rear of the engine skid with the two spacers to fill in the frame divots, the four long bolts go at the rear of the transmission skid, and the two remaining short bolts go in the inside of the frame for the transfer case.

I'll send you a PM with the instructions

Would you mind PMing me instructions as well?

Everything went well, although for the transfer case skid I could not get it installed by sliding the front in first even with only 2 threads holding the transmission skid. What I did instead was completely remove the rear transmission skid bolts and let it hang then mounted the transfer case skid to the side rails first then it was just a matter of putting a jack under the transmission and transfer case skid bolt area to lift it flush and installing the 4 bolts.

The rustoleum big projects cans worked well, but I had to leave them to cure in a hot garage for a long time because the paint took so long to fully harden and cure. I painted them awhile ago but they still felt fairly soft after a couple days, so I just let them sit in the garage for a long time. I'll probably try krylon next time.

I still need to take mine off, sand them, and repaint them... It might be time to do a video on that.

For the gas tank skid, should I install the brackets before the skid or attach them to the skid first? Particularly the passenger side bracket that gets attached kind of behind the drive shaft

Just placed my order for the 7/8 side rails, 2 additional crossbars (+1 crossbar/fairing that is included in the purchase) and the high-lift mount!!!

Have a long road trip planned starting 9/26. Praying to the LFD Gods my order gets here before then.

Excited either way!!! Thank you LFD!!!

We're heading out to Appalachian Toyota Roundup tomorrow, hope to see some of you there!

When it ends Sunday we're heading West for the week instead of heading home. We'll still have people in the office, but they're not the usual staff answering messages and such, so there may be a delay in getting some things answered. We'll be back to full staff Monday the 14th.

Haha I literally just sent you a reply email a few minutes ago, after I hit send and my inbox updated I saw your order notification come through. Thanks :)

Where in the West? Heading to Cali?

The new style of ruggedized crossbar is $50 more per bar than the old style. Is the only difference the slots cut into them? Seem's lot just for that difference. Or is it the slots and stainless steel? Or am I missing something.

You are missing something, they offer stainless, steel, and aluminum. 5th Gen crossbars are $79 in steel and $129 in stainless. The ones in stainless say it right in the title so do the aluminum ones.

Yep totally missed the line "Now shipping "New style" 5th Gen Crossbars with mounting slots for easier accessory mounting!" in the just regular steel ones for $79. Thanks for setting me straight.
