The New Daily 4Runner

Hey guys,

I'm new here, I've always wanted a rugged all terrain like vehicle but I never thought about getting it as soon as I did. I was browsing on Kijiji for fun (should've known better) and came across a 2000 4Runner SR5 with 99k for $5000 and I knew at that moment it was time. Went to meet the seller and bought it the same day for $4700 with emissions test done. The previous owner did a really great job upkeeping the vehicle and you can just tell by the overall condition of the vehicle when I went to see it.

What's been done to this rig so far
Timing belt + Water pump at 100k
265/75/16 Hankook Dynro ATM all terrain tires. Less than 2k
Pro comp 16x8 -12 offset
Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers
Bushwacker fender flares with body matched paint
New rear axle seal with OEM parts including bleeder valve
New rear wheel bearings
OEM lower ball joints
OEM Toyota battery
New diff fluid
New front rotors and pads (posi quiet brand)
New rear brakes shoes (changed while doing axle seals)
New air filter
B&M transmission cooler
Rustproofing

On order
Denso upstream o2 sensor
NGK 3967 Spark plugs
NGK TE66 coils
PCV valve

The purpose of this vehicle is going to be a all year round daily with some mild off roading capabilities plus winter beater.

I also own a 2001 Mazda Protege MP3 #149/250 that I've been using as my daily... my goal for this vehicle was to stay N/A and focus on handling with some suspension mods and sticky Yokohama AD08s. Though it makes a terrible daily.

Onto some pictures

First thing I decided to do was remove the running boards, I think this looks much better and adds some ground clearance.

I decided to plasti dip my rims for now as the stockers were corroded. I have ordered a set of Soft 8s and 265/75/16 Hankook RF10 All Terrain tires for it which should be going on the vehicle this Tuesday. :bluejump:

That thing is Clean. You got a good deal at that price.... I like the Interior
I took the Fender well moldings off and put the screws back in for water prevention. and added a roof basket. It really changed the look

I am a Mazda fanatic here. My buddy had the orange mazdaspeed protege which got me hooked and I bought an 08 speed3 and modded it until it was a little beyond fully bolted. Was starting back at school full-time so I traded her in for a 14 mazda6. No regrets!

Nice MP3! My first car was a yellow Mica MSP. Great little cars! Nice looking rig as well.

Nice! The proteges are neat machines with awesome handling. Really underrated but too bad they rust out.

Thanks man! I was debating on doing that but waiting for my new wheels first to see how it looks. Do you have any pictures of yours without the moldings?

Both are great cars, I was debating on getting a speed 3 but my next purchase will be a wrx due to it being awd and the resale on them is just incredible. The 6 is a beautiful looking vehicle as well. Yours almost looks like a jaguar from afar haha

Thank you, It was more luck than anything I was browsing for fun for about a week and this suddenly popped up. I was there within 2 hours and had him drive it back to my house the same evening. What brand and where did you get that basket? looks great

Yours look clean, cars out in the south sure do last long though. In Canada there's just a ton of rust buckets with much lower miles than yours.

I painted my moldings to get rid of the chrome trim. I'll either keep or remove them depending on my wheel setup tomorrow.

This is the exact basket i got and the reviews where very good too. Quite happy with it..... I put the included wind deflector in the front and it completely stopped the wind noise while cruising at highway speeds

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013COCXDC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is the cargo net i got for it

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CAVUL0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm from the east coast (New Jersey) living near the Atlantic Ocean and everything rusted badly. When we moved to Arizina i was amazed at how good the condition was on very old vehicles...... Under carriage still has all the original paint that is still like new. Rarely do we see rain out here and when there is a mud puddle i try to avoid it or wash it off good when i get home.

I like looking at your picture..... seeing a green lawn is not too common and i do miss that

Thanks for the link I will order this soon. Does it easily bolt up?

You should see the older cars up here, people rarely keep their cars for 10 years here.

Looks really nice and clean. Remindes me of my mayhem :)

Thanks! I have a few things planned for it but Canadian currency is pretty bad right now tough to order things from the states

My friends call it the "Mazda-Rati" when its clean and rolling slow, it looks like a high-end car. But...JUST A MAZDA! haha.

The rack comes in two boxes and is in three parts that easily bolt together (took me about 20 minutes) Spread your roof rack cross bars as far apart as you can get them and take the U bolts and saddles and lay the rack on top and it has hand screw type nuts up top.... took me about another twenty minutes to do that.
One of the easiest mods to do

Looking good, really good deal with that low mileage.

Thank you!

Awesome I'm looking that rack and another one due to shipping and custom fees plus currency exchange. Really hoping to get one soon

New wheels and tires!

Alright some progress today

Picked up my new set of wheels which are 16x8 along with some Hankook Rf10s in 265/75/16. They look amazing and definitely give the truck a new look. Hoping to get a roof basket next

Here are some pictures

Some progress today

I really needed new brakes as the old ones were warped. Ended up also getting some new hardware as well including new slider pins and shims. Night and day difference now!

Another shot my new set up, love these tires!!

I also ordered my roof basket which arrived last night. Went ahead to install it this afternoon. Not a perfect fit but it works. Last on my to do list for today was to get rid of the chrome on the grille and fender trims

^ I too am wondering about Rub, since the tire size and wheels are exactly what i want to do. I already have 265/75/16's on mine but want the wheels now.
