You going twin tankless now, or adding a tank? Nice to hear ARB stands behind their product though.
The twin compressor has no tank, or manifold... That is needed to use it for air lockers, so I'll be getting the small manifold kit as well as a 3gallon torpedo tank.

Not having an ARB locker my opinion is worth nothing - but when we were up on McGrew one of the gents had ARB's front and rear running without a tank and his compressor overheated right in the middle of a big obstacle forcing him to back out. Now I think his was due to a pressure release valve being left open - but it sure showed how a tank could help avoid that issue.

3 gallons - that's not a bad size tank. Can you tuck those up by the frame rails to keep them protected?
 
A friend of mine runs the dual arbs retrofitted to a small tank. When we fill tires that thing gets effing HOT. Like... Close to burning finger prints hot.

Go touch any compressor after its been running for 5min and tell me its not hot. All compressors get hot, like burn your hand hot. The tanks don't get hot because well there is no moving parts in the tank.
 
got the hood vents in, its to dark out right now to get pics. ill get some tomorrow. i could only get temps up to 186* with the AC on full blast and the truck just sitting and idling. that was about the temps i would see while doing 60mph down the freeway with no AC(w/AC about 5-10* more). it will be nice to see what these do with some air flow. my intake temps never got above 90* either while it was sitting. im guessing those too will really drop with some good air flow.

Wow, that's crazy low. I knew it'd make a difference, but didn't expect that much at IDLE. Congrats man.

So I finished up late last night so it was too dark to take pics. So the last of the install was not documented. Basically the only thing I don't have pics of is the siliconing I did between the vents and the hood.... I used some hi-temp black RTV silicone to create a small seal around each of the rivet holes on the vent panels, this was just a very thing skim layer all the way around the panel to seal out any moisture and give a "sticky adhesive" like material without adding any height. This will also serve to fill any imperfections in the paint ect and hopefully eliminate any vibrations/ rattling that might happen over time...

well as you can see it rained on me the the next morning... no issues. im not too worried about rain... people wash their motors all the time with water, and sometimes even a pressure washer.
 
What? That little storm cloud that moved through, come on that wasn't rain!!

I ask because if thought about making the scoop functional, and not just for looks. But it's placement would leave my belt getting wet all the time and that wouldn't be ideal.

But those temps your recording are phenomenal can't wait to see when loaded off-road.
 
Your rig is looking spectacular! I love that color too but seems you must be running out of things to do to it. Where are you going to mount the dual compressor? Do you have a close up of the front diff before install? Specifically the ARB airline and routing in the clamshell?

im far from running out of things to do...

im gonna put the dual compressor in the same spot as my current compressor, up under the back of the where the spare used to be.

the air line inside the diff is already pre-routed from ARB, they give you about 1-2" of variation in location placement for the bulkhead fitting. it will come out on the same side as the seal housing. the line will not cross over the ring gear like the rear does. -no i do not have a picture of the diff apart with the air line in it sorry
 
Yeah I got it all installed. It was kind of a nightmare for a couple of days... One fan was pulling and the other was pushing. It took me some time to figure it out because I wired it just like the instructions said to and showed... Turns out flexilite miswired the fans in the first place so I had to fix their mistakes and then it worked good. Also am currently running a 170* thermostat and with that I see temps anywhere from 180-220 depending on the day and outside temps and how I'm driving/where I'm driving. Around town I'm closer to 190-200 out on the open fwy it can drop down to about 180 if I keep a good pace and have no load. And if I'm out on forest service roads say climbing a grade I can see temps start to rise into the 220+ range. So yeah I'll be installing some hood louvers and that combined with the new gears I should be good and be able to keep temps more around the 180-200 range. Honestly the hood louvers are more for lowering intake temps and just general under hood temps and less stress on parts -heat = stress.

You have to consider that I push around more weight than most people on the forum - 35" tires, full armor ect and only running 4.10 gears currently its taxing on the entire power train system. So I probably generate more heat that most of you, so the flexilite fans have their work cut out for them. But they seam to be doing a good job with what I'm giving them to work with. Also airflow to the radiator is hampered by my trans coolers (both of them cover the entire exposed portion of the AC condenser) and my lights as well as the winch control box. I plan to relocate that box to behind the bumper at some point soon.

I have to preface this with the fact yours is one of my favorite builds. Well done. On to the e-fans though, my experience showed the factory mechanical fan with a new fan clutch was way better at maintaining temps than e-fans, especially under heavy load and with trans coolers in the way. The only time I hit 210 is with the a/c on high with temps in the 90-100 degree range running 80 mph (in Oklahoma, so high humidity as well). I weigh about what you do, on 285s with 4.56 gears. Stock radiator (new), with a TRD 160 degree t-stat. Most times it runs right at 180. Also, the easiest way to keep trans temps down (aside from coolers...I have two as well) is to drive the auto like a manual. Don't go into OD until the trans locks (above 38-40mph for me) and don't do the 2-3 shift until then either. Also, as soon as the trans does the 1/2 step kickdown from OD but not all the way into 3rd, click off the OD switch and go to 3rd. That 1/2 step really heats it up quick. Makes a huge difference paying attention to when it locks up, and keeping it in lower gears until it does. Watch your temp gauge when you do all this, you'll be amazed at how much you can control your temps, and how quickly it heats and cools depending on when it's locked. Anyway, just my unsolicited $.02. Great rig you have.

i think the key here for us is we both have dual trans coolers, thus that blocks a lot of the air flow over the AC condensor and radiator, and adds to the heat on both. i think the only advantage the mechanical fan has is the full shroud that covers the entire radiator, not just the top 2/3rds of it, like the flexilite does. and for me the added factor that i have my lights and winch control box up there blocking a lot of the air flow. so the hood vents were a very good investment, and i can feel the hot air being blown out when the fans kick on if i put my hand over them. i have noticed now that the new gears have helped tremendously with keeping the workload down thus keeping temps down. yesterday i climbed a hill with my AC full blast and in 4hi that i would normally climb in 4lo just to keep temps lower, but even in 4lo i would see temps above 230* by the end of the hill. yesterday in 4hi i only got to 211* with the AC on full blast. i think i probably will drop to the 160* thermostat just because. i already have one on order ill be picking up on thursday and installing. cause at this point i still dont have my front skid on, and have not done any hard wheeling as of yet. i have an over night trip this weekend and ill be doing a final shake down on for everything...
 
well just pulled the trigger on a CO2 system for the runner... now i need to get my first gen roll bar set up. im gonna do something similar to [MENTION=67615]Dirtco[/MENTION] , and his roll bar set up.
 
just washed, clay bared and waxed the runner this morning... paint is so smooth again, its amazing, tonight ill clay bar the windows and get all the water spots off.
