Yes, thank you! Great to have a Toy Tech on here that will share the wealth....I'll be consuming much of the information on this site over the next few weeks/months.

Thanks for putting this together man. Gave me a much better understanding of the tools I'll need for some upcoming projects. Quick question for you, and everyone else I guess. Is there a basic tool kit that people recommend for most of the entry level work you will do on your car? Or should I just buy things as I need them?
If a toolkit is a good place to start, what brand do you recommend?
I'm expecting to get blasted for this but 90% of my tools I got from Harbor Freight. I love the different colors for different sizes it really help when you're working with old mechanics with bad eyes. I've never broke any of them and the only time I've stripped a nut is from my own impatient actions.
I've changed the timing belt on 3 Honda Accords. Swapped one Accord engine due to using cheap parts, timing belt slipped, I didn't do the work. I have also rebuilt a Harley engine, split the case, bumped up the Cu.in on it. And countless other hours working on Harley's. I was a machinist in the Navy and made a fixed all kinds of military crap.
My dad was raised on a farm and could fix anything with an adjustable wrench and a vice grip. He kept a Fiat X-19 running good for years with that combo.
Good tools don't make a mechanic, the right tool for the job makes a mechanic. If you have inexpensive tools you don't feel bad about modifying them to make your life easier.
I had one Harley mechanic laugh at me when I busted out my HF collection but when I replace a stator in 20min he shut his trap.
How much do you plan on doing? I'd recommend going to Sears and buying one of those $150 Craftsman mechanic's sets that come in their own tool box. Quality is "good enough" If anything ever breaks, Sears replaces the piece for free.
That is badass, dude! Keep doin' your thing!
I was just thinking a couple hours ago "man, it'd be great if this [kind of] thread thread existed". And what do you know, it does.
Can't wait to read tonight, thanks for putting this together! My slowly-growing list of projects TODO when I buy just got a little less daunting.
