Hey everybody. My name is William.
I currently live in San Antonio, Texas with my girlfriend, Elizabeth. We are getting married soon and relocating to Portland, Oregon. I decided on the 4Runner as a platform for my daily driver and for a vehicle she and I could adventure in. I found a 2015 Superwhite Trail Edition Premium at a dealership in Houston and picked it up like this:
This is the picture I sent everybody I've known since middle school. Many of them couldn't remember me even though they signed my yearbook, what kind of BS is that?
Anyhow, I want a truck that is completely capable...of taking my girlfriend places where she will have fun. See, I need to spend more time outside. I need it, and if I can get her to enjoy it too I get to do it more and that would be awesome. I'm starting her slowly, we are heading out to South Padre Island to camp South Beach on our next good weather weekend. Secondarily, I want a truck to take me really awesome places to take pictures and do a little more hardcore camping with my boys.
So here is what I've done so far. I'll continue to update this post. Probably.
Completed:
Added BF Goodrich 275/70/17 T/A KO2 Tires
Added Viper 5806V Alarm. I'd like to keep my truck and I like being able to start it from a mile away. I didn't take a picture of the tiny blue flashing light, sorry.
Planned:
Add Baja Utility Full Length Roof Rack (Should be Tuesday, stupid slow freight company.) - DONE
Add Bilstein 5100's front and rear to improve ride and level front - NOPE. Changed my mind; I've decided on Icon Stage III with tubular UCAs.
Add plate bumper and winch with bull bar in front.
Add rear plate bumper with swingarm for spare and cans.
Add subtle supplemental lighting front, sides, and rear - Done for now, but I'm going to relocate the rigids down to the front and put a 40" light bar up top.
Add CB in center console and rack-mounted stowable antenna - Installed the antenna (Firestik II FS3) this morning, ordering a Uniden PRO520XL as we speak. Gonna mount the tiny little CB right next to the passenger's left leg on the outside of the center console facing up.
Add wheel to wheel nerf bars - NOPE. Sliders after my lift.
Improve skid plates - Still planned
Vinyl wrap (black) the flares - No.
Build an insulated sleeping platform to level rear hatch area - Nope, teaching myself to weld so I can build an offroad trailer with a roof tent. In the meantime, just been taking the seats out and sleeping on an air mattress.
Add an awning - Still planned
And some other stuff, but I think that's probably a good start.

I'd found a little tiny rocky trail up behind a local mall while waiting for E. At the top was an area where teenagers gather to break the law, I gather. There were stinky couches, the remains of a bonfire, and empty beer bottles. Shocking behavior, really. I wish I'd thought to take a picture of what looked like a set from an angsty teenager coming-of-age film.
