With those plugs, take a look again... They caught me off guard on the plugs too. I think it has to do with the direction of the spark. On 3 of my plugs, there was still quite a bit of a lower electrode, but the top of the plug was really pitted... Again, I think its because that's where the arc begins with positive vs negative spark set.

Good call on the plugs. I looked at them again and you are right. The ones that don't seem to be worn as much do have more wear on the ground electrode. However they still aren't as worn as the ones off the driver side head. I'm pretty sure that you're right about the direction of the spark travel since they are reversed between head because of the waste spark system that the 3.4 uses.

Sweet pictures, looks like a fun trip! You should have let me know, Holy Cross is one of my favorite trails but I can never seem to find someone that will run it with me. Did you make it all the way up to the city, did anyone try Cleveland Rock?

HC is now one of my favorites too! I'm definitely up for running it again so we need to plan a trip for sure. I know Glen wants to run it as well and i told Jeff he needs a locker 1st .

We turned around after the creek since it was getting late and started to hail. Also, the 2nd gen Taco's were a bit to wide to make it up the creek without damage so we just headed back down after that. I really want to go again and check out the city and i'm definitely going to give Cleveland rock a try.

My guess is that we won't be able to run it soon seeing as you already have snow up in Summit!

Sure thing. Not really much new to update. It works awesome and its definitely my favorite mod of done to my truck....and i've done a lot of mods to this truck :lmao:.

The pros of it are that i can just let the clutch out and it will crawl as slow as i want it to. This allows me to focus more on where to place the tires and i can be way more control with the power delivery so i think i will have less of a chance of breaking stuff. Most of the time i don;t even have to touch the gas in double low and i just let the clutch out and it will do its thing. Also with the dual case setup, you don't lose any street drivablity and it gives you way more gearing options.

With my setup i have:
Stock 2wd high
Stock 4wd high
Stock 4wd 2.57:1 low
Just the crawler will give me 4.7:1 low in either 2wd or 4wd
Lowest is stock 4wd 2.57 low and the 4.7 crawler combined together to give me 12.08:1 low.


The only real con in my opinion is the price. the Marlin TacoBox setup is about 2 grand plus you have about $300-500 needed to modify the driveshafts. Then you will want to build a beefier crossmember get a new 4xinnovations mount for it. Then you can get triple sticks to get them all in one spot if you want to be really fancy.

It's been a while since you plastidipped/bedlined the bottom of the doors and rocker panels. How has it held up? Have you ever tried removing it? And if so, how difficult is it? I just plastidipped mine and want to add the bedliner. But I'm worried the bedliner will be too tough and keep the plasti dip in place.

Also, after watching your youtube videos, I have to say... You have one of the sickest rigs I've seen! haha

It has held up well. There is only one part that has peeled a little and that was only because i accidentally got really close with a pressure washer and it peeled on the taped edge. Other than that its held up pretty good. If i were to do it again, i would probably have done an extra coat or 2 of plastidip and i think it would be perfect. The bedliner i used was the Rustoleum and its pretty fine so its more of a textured matte finish rather that a rough bedliner like rhinoliner or something.

Never tried removing it but i think it will still peel off without too much trouble.

Thanks for the compliment too but i think my rig is a POS compared to a lot of other rigs here :lmao:. I'd say most of my projects are still in progress.

42 Inch LED bar mounted on the roof

I picked up a 42 inch double row light bar and wanted to mount it on the roof. I sat it on the roof rack but felt it was too far back. I have plans to build a full length roof rack but i'm impatient and wanted the light bar up there now .

I grabbed some 2x1/8 plate and made up some brackets to mount the bar. After mocking them up, i think a 44 inch bar would be the perfect length for the roof of a 3rd gen but i'll have to make to with a 42 inch :lmao:

Here is what i came up for the mounts

They aren't perfect as i did them by hand with a angle grinder, welder and mostly just eyeballed it. Do i care? Not even a little bit.

On the truck

They sit behind the weatherstrip and rain gutter and are secured with 2 self tappers per side.

Wiring runs to the passenger side and its grounded to one of the self tappers

Positive wire runs down the rain gutter to the fender where it runs under the hood to the relay. No holes were drilled in the roof to run the wires. Less holes, less chance of a leak.

All done!

Now what everyone wants to see!

Its hard to get an accurate picture of the beam output. This was the best i could do.

Thanks Nathan! I thought the headlights were pretty bright until i got the light bar :lmao:

The brackets and self tappers are in there pretty tight and are still behind the weatherstripping. I doubt it will leak but i will probably seal it all up with some RTV just as a precaution.

I bought it from GT Lighting USA. Pretty sure its the same Totron/Hanma ones that everyone seems to be selling. I would have preferred a Baja Designs but that one is about $1200 vs the $265 i paid for this one.

Just the roof one. For some reason i didn't think to turn on the bumper light bar.
