So, I got a return email today from URD.
I asked some general questions about their products, bla bla whats recommended for my vehicle, all that.
They want my 4runner to put a supercharger on it. I told them I wanted to see what their deal would be considering I'm giving them the vehicle to blow up. If we come to terms, I'll be driving this biatch to Maryland to get a shot of manhood.
Can someone give me an explanation of the difference in centrifugal super charger and a turbo? I think they look identical.. These "superchargers" dont look like the superchargers I've seen. What am I missing?
Has anyone had any experiences (good/ bad/ indifferent) with these guys and or their products?
I think this is the only way to really increase the 4.7/285 HP+TQ. I want to make my vehicle able to outrun a lawnmower sounding vehicle, and then turn around and run over it. Eventually I want to lift the truck 3 inches, and make it off road worthy.
I'm pretty new to the world of super runners, as you can tell by my post count.. so I would like to hear what you guys have to say. I appriciate any info.

Centrifugal superchargers aren't anything new. Prochargers has done them on mustangs/camaros forever. They usually are kinda noisy though in my experience sound kinda like a whistle all the time, but again that's from my experience with prochargers. Each manufacturer is different and they have quieter ones too. It is basically a turbo just instead of one side being exhaust driven it's driven by your engine pulley. They are relatively safe as long as there is a conservative tune. It's all about the tune. Once you up the power on the engine you want to look into possibly modifying the transmission. The stocker wasn't designed for that kind of power out of the box. Talk to skyline he's probably the most knowledgeable on this forum about it. I believe he's personal buddies with the URD guys too FWIW.

I love the procharger sound, it just sounds mean at idle. Fun fact: Procharger (ATI) is based out of Lenexa, Ks, about a ten minute drive from my house.
 
Even though i have my differences with them.. I will tell u do it! You will be ver satisified with the kit just be ready for a tremendous can of patience and understanding. If i was you though i would do it. Steve (gadget) puts alot of time into R&Ding for Our trucks. Even to this day if i could afford it i would get it but i instead got A Trd blower.
