the weirdest....

So a few months ago i threw a code for the TPS. I went and bought one from local auto parts store (1st msitake). I stripped one of the screws trying to take it off so i took it in to my mechanics at work and gave them the new one and they (supposedly) popped it in. Within a week or so i was throwing codes for it again and it was driving like crap. I dealt with it for a little bit then went and got an OEM tps from toyota. I went back to my same mechanic at work and had him take the aftermarket?? one out and put the NEW OEM one in. When i got it back it drove great and has been ever since. So anyway the weird part.. i decided to take the old tps i bought from lordco (aftermarket one) and return it since it carried a one year warranty.. when i brought it in the guy said it didnt look right, we then looked at the part # and sure enough it was an OEM tps.

So what i am guessing is that the mechanic originally took the old oem one off and then accidentally threw the new aftermarket one out and just put the old one back on. Then when i brought it back to put the NEW oem one on he took off the original oem one which i tried to return unsuccessfully. And now im out 80 bucks :(

****ty, whenever I'm lazy enough(not calling you lazy) to have someone else work on my rig, I ask to see the old parts

No disrespect, but stories like these are why I consult forums like this one and educate myself so I can do it myself. Plus I enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that I did the job and saved some $$$ in the process.

Haha no I totally agree I mean I typically do all my own work from (headgaskets to suspension) but I get the work for free and I was sick of dealing with the stripped screw and a lousy stubby Phillips head. This was my lesson learned tho :)

I despise Lordco.

Ok now that, that's out of the way,

Wasn't the TPS that you tried to return, dirty? IE: Like 12 years old dirty?
Got a picture of it?
