Bummer about the tire. That is my luck to a T. I was doing some maintenance the other day, tightening the control arms up a bit into proper torque, and snapped a damn lug stud off in the process. Now DT has cross threaded, hrrrm.. up to 5 of my lugs over time, but I think THIS one was mine! I am beginning to question these self centering Gorilla spline lugs. Next time I get new wheels, they will be Hub Centric. Maybe THIS will fix my lug drama.
Odd about the pics though. I can't see them. I see your nailed tire pic, but I have a lot of blank space on two different browsers.

Damn it. I just tried something different for the first pic in the "Wynan Canyon" post. See if you can see that one. You'd think Google would be the go to for image hosting but nope. They always have to make shit harder then it needs to be. I forgive them though. They just replaced my Nexus 6P with the early shutdown issue with a brand new Pixel XL. I'm still shocked. lol

Nope. I can't see anything on that post. I have used Google Chrome on my phone, as well as on my PC. I can see the tire pic with the nail. Did you do something different there? Google pixels look nice. I'm about ready to ditch my Samsung. It takes kind of crap pictures. I might end up going with us iPhone 8, but we'll see. Getting a new phone these days is about as expensive as buying a new computer.

I little update. I just got t-boned. No pics cause it's dark but I'll get some tomorrow.
Long story short, I was coming home from picking up a burger. Got in the turn lane to make a left hand turn onto my street. There was a 2012 Jeep Cherokee at the stop sign with it's left blinker on. I watched the driver look left and never look back right. She pulled out even as I was braking hard and mashing the horn. She pulled out fast too.
Then she hit me. The hit was hard enough to move my truck a few inches on impact. Dead center on the drivers door. FML was the first thing that came to mind. Second was get the hell out of the road. I pulled forward off to the shoulder. I looked over at her and she looked shocked but otherwise fine.
After confirming the other driver was also backing up to clear traffic I got out of my rig. I was fulling expecting to have to depart from the passenger side but to my shock the drivers side door opened easily. I stepped out and looked at the damage. The Stubbs sliders saved the day. No shit. She bent them in about 1/2" and pushed them up maybe 1/4". That's it. No other damage to the rig. Thank you Stubbs.
After going over to her and making sure she was indeed OK I checked her vehicle for damage. Other then my slider marks all over her bumper valance her rig was fine as well. The impact came just above the factory tow hooks on her Jeep. There's a steel cross member that lies under that valance. It was steel to steel. We agreed not to involve insurance and figure it out after we've both calmed down.
She's a very pleasant women who lives a few houses down from mine. It was her fault but I'm having a debate on what to do about it. Sure my sliders are slightly bent but the frames straight and my rigs body is fine. My body is fine too. I think I'll just live with some bent sliders and not pursue any money for replacing them. Nobody is wealthy on my street and it could have been much worse. Plus I beat the shit out of my sliders on a weekendly basis.

I'm married and she's probably close to my moms age. I just don't think that damage warrants replacing the slider or trying to get any monetary gain from the accident. I'll talk to Richard and see if he'd make just a drivers side slider but that still leaves me having to cut off the damaged slider, grind the welds down, re-primer and paint the new slider, then having it welded back up. Let's just guess about 200 in labor plus paint materials and the new slider. So about 400 would be my guess.
Or I just live with a slightly bent slider and the feeling that I did the right thing.
To take it back to the day:
One slider: $180
Paint and primer: $30
Labor: $200

Sorry to hear about your truck man. Just be dang sure you are fine physically before you forgive and forget. At least get her to admit in writing that the accident was caused by her. This way she can't try for a bullshit money-grab later as she "suddenly" recalls how it was all your fault. That or next week you can't move your head to the right because of something from the accident.
If it were me – I would tell her you won't seek damages but she needs to agree on paper that she caused the accident.

The one good thing about our government run insurance up here is that you can still report it but opt to not activate the claims if you decide to just pay it outright, then your premiums don't go up. At least that's the way it was last time I was in an accident 20 years ago.

Oh man... Glad you are okay. I gotta say, my Hella Supertones have saved my bacon quite a few times since install. Not saying that it would have mattered, but didn't you get the Hella Sharptones?
Anyway... That's pretty amazing that the slider took all that damage and saved your vehicle. How sure are you that the frame is still good after all the translated energy? If it is just the slider, then, that's not too bad considering the alternatives that could have happened. I hear you about what to do concerning fault and fixes. That's up to you. Sometimes if feels better to be gracious and not press the issue, especially if it is a nice person, and or neighbor. Again, that's up to you man.

That's some pretty solid advice about having a signed document with her admitting fault. I never really thought about anti-karma.
I've been driving for 26 years and this is the first accident I have been involved in. I saw it coming but couldn't do anything to avoid it. I still can't believe she never looked right. If airbags had deployed in either rig I would have gotten a police report and filed an insurance claim.
Never ended up getting the Sharptones. They're actually still in my Amazon wishlist though. I really don't think it would have mattered in this case. She pulled out fast enough to have zero response until impact.
I used a straight edge to visually inspect the frame. There was enough force to bend steel but I'm pretty sure the sliders absorbed that force. I'm on my way out to test it on the highway and make sure everything feels tight and there's no hidden damage. I think a dodged a bullet though.

For the impact that you are describing, that... is pretty impressive. And that's not the type of impact that that they are designed for. But it's good to know, seeing I have the same Stubbs sliders, that they can really take a licking and help to minimize several different types of damage. How bad is the horizontal deformation? Is it close to the bottom of the door? All the welds still look good? I imagine they do, or it would be noticeable and would not have kept most of the energy localized to impact area. You could always get a BL to gain a bit more clearance. Maybe .5"?

I have seen more than a couple of instances where someone's full bull bar headlight hoops grabbed a tree limb and pulled it into and through the light housing. Assuming the frame is ok, you dodged a totaled truck! Sucks that you got hit but at least everyone walked away unhurt. Gives me a little more confidence in my sliders!

When I mounted my slides I left 1/4" gap between the top of slider and the pinch weld. They are now just touching the pinch weld. There's still 3/4" clearance from bottom of door to top of slider. I've visually inspected all welds and there fine. I got out the hi-lift today and jacked the rig up off the damaged slider. No movement or flex. I'm satisfied that the sliders still structurally sound.
The frames fine guys. A pulled a string line off two fixed points on both sides and compared the number from line to frame. They are exactly the same. Sure, it's not some fancy ass laser alignment machine but it's how it was done long before lasers existed. It cruises perfect on the highway at 75mph just like it always has. And your absolutely correct, without those sliders the rig is totaled. The impact would have collapsed the doors and bent the B pillar for sure. Possibly the A pillar as well. I"m so glad I went with Stubbs.

Next weekend maybe. I installed a garage door today so I could actually get it in the garage again, The old door was one of the flip up 1960 style. With the new overhead door I've gained at least 6" of clearance. Putting in a 15' 6" overhead door by yourself is loads of fun. lol
