Queen Creek Canyon(1N14) to Trail Canyon(2N07)
In the northern part of the White Mountains sits Boundary Peak. At 13140 FT it's the highest point in Nevada. I've been up it a few times and on one trip I noticed a road to it's north. I always wondered where that road went. Yesterday I found out.
After looking at the topo it appeared that road went into Queen Creek Canyon. It also appeared that it could be linked into Trail Canyon then back out to Rt 264 north of Dyer. So with my usual crack of noon start I loaded up the rig and pointed it eastbound on Rt 6.
After about 44 miles I found a dirt road that looked good enough to start the days adventure. It was 1S57. It ended up adding about 1.5 miles to eventually link into 1N14.
Here's where I'm heading. That big white thing in the background is Boundary Peak. That saddle off to the left of the photo is where the road enters Queen Creek Canyon.
This is about 7 miles into Queen Creek. The road is really well maintained. Probably because it's in Nevada and not Cali.
At about 12 miles in you come to the old Queen Mine site. The switchbacks make for an easy way to get to the top of the saddle and drop back down into Trail canyon.

I tried to capture just how steep of a drop you're looking at if you blow the swtichbacks, Trust me, it's steep on the passenger side.
This is about 200 feet before the top of the ridge that connects over to Trail Canyon. It gives you a pretty good idea of the terrain covered. It's at 9789 feet of elevation looking west.
This is the top of the saddle looking east. That's Trail Cayon. It drops down for another 12 miles or so before reaching 264.
On my way out I found this little gem. The amount of Bows in that little body of water was staggering. Of course my rods at home because the Cali trout season doesn't start until next week. It's also in Nevada which is open but I don't have a license for. I'll be back with a license and my float tube.
After getting out of Trail Canyon I took 264 back to 6 and was home 4 hours after I left. All told it's 30ish miles of dirt. It takes you up to some great spots and is a very easy trail. I only needed lo range in two spots and that was more to control steep ascents and descents more than anything technical.
I'm putting together a multi day run in the Whites and this was one of the last pieces of the puzzle I needed. The goal it to stay in the Whites on dirt from Big Pine to there northern terminus. I'll have to cross the range a few times to make it happen but that just adds to the fun.
