I'll send the seller an email tomorrow after I cool off a bit. They went out of there way to ship it so I don't think it was a scam. Just an honest mistake. It was pretty cheap even with the shipping so I'm not to stressed.

It's not about money at this point. It's about me wanting the damn case on my bench. I'll get something sourced but I was really looking forward to tearing into it tonight. I might go tear into that one just for fun. lol

I hate when I am as specific as I possibly can be only to have someone make a lazy mistake.

The other day I got a new phone from Verizon. They are running a buy back promotion where I send them my old phone and i get a few hundred off my new phone. Simple enough. The employee grabs me a return bubble padded envelope with a UPS postage paid address label already stuck to it. Great. The next day I am about to throw it in the mail. There's no way this thing will make it to its destination without cracking the screen. I go to check the instructions on the one side and it's in Spanish. I flip it over and notice employee put the return address label over the english instructions. Thank you. I notice the lip of the envelope does have a few ikea picture instructions. They mention a box that was not given to me and one which the return label is not affixed to for sure. None of those problems are unsolvable problems. But, I was just imagining a situation where the phone gets to them, the screen is broken, they decide not to credit me with a return because I did what the employee said to do.

And packing peanuts do really suck. When my savage skids came to me the hardware got loose in the packing peanuts. I didn't realize this until I saw a few shiny objects fall into the trash as I'm shaking the peanuts out of the Box over the trash bin. Then I felt like a hardware prospector sifting through detritus to find my bolts... lol.

So I just ordered the t-case. I had to resort to Fleabay but the seller has a 99.69% positive review rate. There's also a free return shipping policy. On top of that I used my Discover card to make the purchase. I'm pretty sure this will turn out much better then my last go around. I still have the left hand drop case if anyone needs one for a SAS. lol

I did get some wheeling in this weekend with a couple fellow forum members. I'm gonna let those guys take care of the trip report for this one. I think I took a total of 4 photos. lol

I see your nail through finger and raise you an angle grinder across back of finger.

For those that don't know [MENTION=135317]rkntoy[/MENTION] put a nail through his finger just before starting his dual case install. Not one to be out done I decided to loose control of my angle grinder. It then proceeded to hit my left middle finger at about 3000 RPM's. Guess what I was supposed to start Monday? Yep, my dual cases. I'm not sure if it's irony or just frikkin sad but it happened to both of us. lol

The sum total of damage was pretty good. At first I just kept on working figuring it was nothing. About 2 minutes later I realized my glove was soaking wet and there was a ton of blood going down my arm. FML. Guess I'll have to stop work and take a look.

I grab one of our apprentices and tell him to get garden hose hooked up. I grab the jobsite first aid kit(thanks OSHA!) and meet him it the hose. After taking off the glove it's just gushing. I let it gush to flush out what the grinder left in there. After a minute I clean it off with the hose and compress it. 5 minutes of compression later I release the compression.

Normally 5 minutes of compression is long enough to stop the bleeding enough to be able to get a quick look at the real damage. Not this time. It was still flowing like a faucet. FML. There's another little trick that works well to stop bleeding. I grabbed a latex glove and slid my middle finger into it. Then I cut off the tip of the glove. Then I slowly rolled the glove all the way down past the cut. Bam. Instant tourniquet.

With the blood finally stopped I was able to take a closer look. I cleaned it up and did a few range of motion tests. Damn it. I hit the tendon. I could see it moving and there was noticeable damage to it. The good news was that my finger was moving with it so it was not severed.

I released the tourniquet and snapped a quick photo for you guys then headed off to the ER. The ER doc did the exact same tourniquet technique and also the same range of motion testing. He was nice enough to give me a huge dose of Lidocaine first though. After a thorough cleaning I got a few x-rays to make sure no metal was still in the wound. After that another cleaning then some stitches and a finger splint.

He estimates I went through about 30% of the tendon. I have an ortho appointment Monday to figure out how long I'll be splinted and when I can resume normal life.

So my duals are on hold. lol

Glad it wasn't more serious. Hopefully no surgery involved and it heals back up quick. Too bad you are not closer - otherwise I would pop down to help get the duals in even if you were going to be flipping me off the whole time.

Fawk. Is this one of those angle grinder accidents caused from not having the guard on it or just a case of hand in the wrong spot at the wrong time? I leave the guard on mine because I’ve seen too many angle grinder accident stories with gruesome photos. Especially ones where the cutoff wheels shatter and get lodged in bad places and cause major bodily damage. I try to wear a face shield and safety glasses too. That’s one tool I take extra care using. Hope you heal quick!

Yep. It's a passenger side drop. That's right it's a f'ing passenger side drop. Now, I'm gonna go out on a really fat limb here and say it came out of a 1990 Toyo Pickup. So, that's why I'm just a tiny bit pissed off. I have a passenger drop chain drive case that's absolutely useless to me. FML.

Just curious, could this or pieces of it be used for a dual case setup for you or someone else? Like if I happen to have a 2nd gen manual for example? Just so it doesn't go to waste.

My buddy Jeff watched me holding back the guard on a skill saw when I helped him build his garage. He rested the saw against his thigh after letting off the trigger holding the guard back. 22 stitches later he has an awesome scar.

None of my angle grinders have guards, FWIW

Ouch!

My grinder has no gaurd now either. It's so much easier to see & work without it. I try to hold it with two hands but that's not always possible in tight spots.

It wasn't really an improvisation. It's a trick a learned a long time ago. I had my EMT cert for many years before I let it lapse. During that training is where I picked up that trick.

I left that photo as full size. There's some really good detail if you enlarge the photo. Hope your daughter is doing well in med school and continues to do well after.

I haven't used a guard on an angle grinder since shop class. They just get in the way. This was caused by me being on a ladder, reaching to far out to make the cut instead of moving the ladder and having the material I was cutting bind. That pulled me off balance and I had to remove a hand from the tool to stabilize myself. Just at that moment the bind let go and the grinder raked my finger. It was a user error injury. I know better but thought it was safe enough. I was wrong and I payed for it.

Trust me, that thought did cross my mind while sitting in the ER. The grinder gods are a fickle f'ing sort. lol

I'm still shooting to get the duals in pre-trip but it's gonna be close now. I'd like to have some time to run them and make sure everything is solid. If not, it won't be the first time I've done trial by fire. Although this would be a very big trial and a very large fire in something fails.

I took the splint off my hand today and have surprising range of motion to it already. That's got me formulating a plan to get the t-case on the bench and ripped apart with one and a half hands. I'm really looking forward to grinding the shift rails. lol

So I just got a call from UPS. They have a box for me that was beat to shit. Guess what is in that box? Yep, the other t-case. I just can't win.

I went and picked it up from them. I noticed one of the studs on the front flange is bent. There's also some thing in the t-case itself. You can hear it rolling around. They made a note of the shipping damage and I'll email the seller once I chill out. Again.

Guess I'll be doing a full chain drive t-case tear down soon. I cycled all the gears and everything works but it's not worth taking a chance. At least I can pull one of the flanges off that other t-case and use that. Why can't shit ever just be easy? lol
