There are too many stickies in the 4th gen section

We have 15. This is over triple what's in the 3rd gen section and also 5th gen section. You have to scroll halfway down the first page to get to the non stickied threads.

Years ago there was a post (which is now stickied too :mmph: ) talking about cleaning up this section.

For instance: we've got a thread dedicated to the FJ spring lift, and have ANOTHER thread regarding suspension options for the 4th gen. :brick:

We then have the "Pre-Purchase Info, Modifications, Write-Ups, Quick Links, and FAQ's" sticky that links to the owners manuals (stickied), Suspension options (stickied too) build threads (yep) and armor threads (mmhmm)

I feel our section is quite redundant. Can we un-sticky all these different posts, and possibly consolidate every single sticky into a single stickied post with links to each thread?

It's well past due. Don't get me wrong these threads are great, but we can't continue stickying all the good threads. Somethings gotta be done.

I'm actually new here and find that while most of the sticky posts are great unfortunately some of them seem to be a little dated in the content they hold or link too. There is some really great content in this forum but I seem to stumble on it randomly when digging through past posts.

Maybe a new sticky to consolidate other sticky's and create a place for people to link to threads they found quite useful or informative?

A quick look at the moderator list reveals that more than half of them haven't been active on the site in over a year, and several haven't been active since 2012! It's literally impossible to get any sort of reply from Admin on anything site related too. It's a shame since there are so many heavy users ready and willing to step up and help manage the site, me included.

I completely agree, cann we sticky this? Jk, but I seriously agree on grouping similar stickies together or making a master sticky leading to each thread.The bad part is, people still won't use them and ask will these tires rub? lol

He said that "..more than half of them..." haven't been here for over a year, so it seems that the other Moderators who has been here are tending to the forum.

Also, I Administrate several forums, and Moderate on even more and on most forums the Moderators only have limited "Permissions", meaning they are only allowed to do limited actions depending on what all the Administrators trust them doing.

Unfortunately people are probably still going to ask stuff covered in the stickies as they do now. There are plenty of new posts that are told to read the sticky on their question. Having them stickies or not won't change that so why have them?

Having one localized section does prevent someone from needing to search to produce the thread. It does make it easier to direct someone to the right place.
I definitely agree with needing to consolidate, though.

Yeah, besides maintaining the 4runner and putting in useful mods instead of bragging rights modifications. I think most of the stickies are pretty redundant. People sometimes are even too lazy to read the stickies and have the guts to start a new thread about it just to get an instant reply than reading the large threads that can be over 20 pages long.. lol.

Honestly, I like that there are this many stickies. It's much easier to find information for our 4th gens, and it feels organized as I can usually find 90% of what I need through the stickies + a few pages, rather than having to go through a sticky which has everything in it and scroll through many pages, which gets pretty annoying.

Even though it's redundant, noobs still make a new post even when there's already a HUGE sticky, which covers 99.999999999% of what they were asking.

But yea, for someone who comes here on the daily, and has read through every sticky back and forth, I understand your pain. I'm there too with the annoyance of having to scroll nearly half way down the screen to even get to a new post, but when I need something, I'm glad the stickies are there.
